About The Position

KBR is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to support advanced manufacturing and integration activities for ground-based mobile satellite communication systems, directed energy platforms, RF hardware, and related technologies at our Las Cruces, NM facility. This role provides technical leadership for manufacturing processes, ensuring efficient, safe, and high‑quality production across assembly, integration, and test operations. The Senior Manufacturing Engineer develops and optimizes production workflows, drives continuous improvement initiatives, and ensures that manufacturing considerations are integrated early in the product development cycle. The position requires regular collaboration with design engineering, test engineering, quality, supply chain, and program management to support build readiness and resolve complex production challenges. Work performed directly influences schedule performance, cost efficiency, product reliability, and long-term manufacturability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline from an accredited institution and a minimum of 4 years experience
  • Experience with manufacturing processes related to electro-mechanical systems, precision assembly, or hardware integration.
  • Experience with process development, production planning, or manufacturing optimization methodologies.
  • Proficiency with engineering software tools used for manufacturing documentation or analysis (e.g., CAD viewers, Microsoft Project, statistical tools).
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with valid documentation.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree in engineering or a related technical field.
  • Experience with manufacturing execution systems (MES), ERP/MRP platforms, or Costpoint-based environments.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing activities within aerospace, defense, RF, or complex hardware production environments.
  • Able to obtain or possess a U.S. security clearance

Responsibilities

  • Develop, refine, and maintain manufacturing processes and workflows for satellite communication systems, RF subsystems, directed energy components, and system-level assemblies.
  • Lead design-for-manufacturability (DFM) and design-for-assembly (DFA) efforts in collaboration with mechanical, electrical, and systems engineering teams.
  • Plan and optimize factory layouts, integration labs, cleanrooms, and test areas to improve efficiency, ergonomics, material flow, and production throughput.
  • Conduct time studies, process capability assessments, and capacity analyses to support production planning, takt time optimization, and labor estimation.
  • Author and maintain manufacturing documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, build records, and process qualification packages.
  • Support root cause investigations, corrective actions, nonconformance dispositioning, and continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and 5S methodologies.
  • Evaluate, specify, and implement production tooling, fixtures, automation solutions, and test support equipment to improve reliability and reduce cycle time.
  • Coordinate pilot builds, process validations, and manufacturing readiness activities for the introduction of new products into production.
  • Provide technical guidance to junior engineers, technicians, and cross-functional teams as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
