You'll lead with purpose, breaking down barriers to innovation in a more connected, compassionate world. Responsible for development and maintenance of CAD/CAM/Simulation system, CLC methodology CNC programs, tooling, and processes. Responsible for developing and maintaining product/systems to support manufacturing and business needs. Initiates improvements in product/systems and automate processes to improve products safety, quality, schedule, performance and to reduce manufacturing and operating costs by applying standard work, mentoring others and establishing best practices. Designs components or portions of systems and modifies existing designs to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing and field service operations. Utilizes computer-aided design equipment (CAD, CAM) and/or graphic simulation and optimization tools, such as CATIA, ProEngineer, Solidworx, MasterCam, Esprit, Siemens NX, Vericut Softwares. Gathers information, makes studies, computes calculations, simulates and prepares original rough layouts, sketches to present design proposals. Coordinates design criteria with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, material, and planning group such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials, and contractual specifications. Generates manufacturing process, CNC programs, simulate them in a virtual environment and develop close loop system for assigned facilities which require simultaneous axis profiling. This can be by manual programming and CAD/CAM/Simulation Technology. Macro programming will be required in some instances. Responsible for advanced support to manufacturing sites. Completes activities of Lean Sigma projects and process improvements. Troubleshoots a variety of moderate to highly complex CNC programming and tooling problems on the virtual environment and production floor for new and mature product lines driving necessary changes through the manufacturing engineering process control system throughout the sites. Develops and maintains set-up process sheets to compliment CNC programs and partners with the Manufacturing Engineers on development and support of production sites. Functions as “in-house expert” on CAD/CAM/Simulation software and provides training for other staff. Works closely with Engineering personnel to ensure the utilization of the Company's CAD/CAM/Simulation system for generation of CNC programs including development of post-processors. Utilizes the Company's CAD/CAM/Simulation system for generation of CNC programs including development of post-processors and machines digital twins. Makes appropriate changes in manufacturing tooling and CNC programs when dictated by engineering drawing changes. Documents all changes through the manufacturing engineering process control system. Initiate CNC programming techniques at an expert level to initiate and lead improvements in CNC programming techniques to improve processing methods and/or part quality. Makes recommendations on acquisitions of upgrades and enhancements of the Company's CNC programming and simulation tools and CNC machine interfaces. May require conducting machine run-offs. Provides technical assistance to purchasing personnel and suppliers. Creates conceptual designs for fixtures and special cutting tools. Participates in tool design reviews with Manufacturing Engineer, Tooling Engineer, purchasing personnel and outside tool suppliers. Trains shop employees and other Programmers on new tooling introductions, CNC programs, close loop corrections techniques and manufacturing process/methods required of new and existing equipment. Identifies opportunities and leads improvement initiatives and projects. Communicates Programming knowledge and information in the form of presentations to other employees, including Senior Staff. Conducts print reviews with R D team propose and make necessary changes to ensure proper inspection system method, capability, and product manufacturability. Recommends design or test methods and statistical process control procedures for achieving required levels of product reliability. Initiates improvements in current quality systems, process or methods to improve part quality, schedule performance and to reduce manufacturing costs.
