Senior Manufacturing Engineer, Wiring

ArcherSanta Clara, CA

About The Position

As part of Archer’s mission, we’re scaling production of our cutting-edge eVTOL aircraft, Midnight 1.0, while planning for the next-generation Midnight 1.1. On the Manufacturing Design Engineering team, you will develop build plans, assembly tooling and form boards, work instructions, and provide design feedback for avionics harnesses across the aircraft. You will also troubleshoot and resolve discrepant harnesses or routing challenges, partnering closely with Quality and Design authorities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Aerospace, or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
  • 6+ years of experience in aerospace manufacturing, with proven track record in wire harness design, fabrication, routing, and installation (eVTOL, rotorcraft, or other experimental programs preferred)
  • Proficiency in CAD/electrical design tools (e.g., CATIA EHI, NX, Capital or equivalent), plus familiarity with PLM/MES systems
  • Deep understanding of DFM principles for electrical systems, especially harness build and installation in prototype aircraft
  • Ability to understand model based definition and interpret GD&T callouts
  • Strong communication, and organizational skills, coupled with a hands-on approach to solving wiring and integration challenges

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting FAA-certified aircraft programs in a production or certification environment
  • eVTOL Background
  • NX Experience
  • Teamcenter Experience
  • SAP Experience

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical oversight of wiring and avionics manufacturing activities, from harness design and fabrication to installation, routing, and electrical testing, ensuring each prototype is flight and certification ready
  • Collaborate closely with design, quality, and certification teams to embed manufacturability and regulatory requirements early in the wiring design process, mitigating risks before hardware is built
  • Develop and refine the build and assembly processes, instructions, tooling strategies, and methods tailored to low-volume, rapidly evolving prototype environments while ensuring traceability through documentation
  • Serve as subject matter expert on the shop floor, performing real-time troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions to maintain wiring integrity and meet demanding schedules
  • Coordinate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to confirm cable specs, connectors, and components align with FAA standards and program milestones
  • Mentor and guide junior manufacturing engineers and technicians, setting best practices for wiring processes, harness management, and quality assurance in a fast-paced, prototype-oriented culture
