About The Position

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer role will provide non-conventional machining process capability and development associated with Edison Works Advanced Programs. The primary responsibility of this role will collaborate with design engineering to develop producible designs incorporating manufacturing process capability and technology maturation early in the design cycle. During the production cycle, the responsibility will be to work with manufacturing shop engineers to develop a robust production process meeting quality, delivery and cost metrics. Additional activities may include supplier development, technical training, costing methods and design board integration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university (or a high school diploma /GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in Mechanical, Aerospace, Materials Science, Chemical or related experience) + minimum of 5 years of Mechanical, Aerospace, Materials Science, Chemical or related experience.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance.
  • Domestic travel up to 10-20% or as needed.

  • Prior experience in Aerospace manufacturing processes and materials, component manufacturing and assembly.
  • Experience with exotic alloys.
  • Familiarity with Aerospace Quality standards and APQP.
  • Ability to work independently and within a Team environment.
  • Strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Non-Conventional Machining Process Capability and Development: Leverage expertise in advanced machining techniques to improve hardware producibility at the conceptual design phase and process development during production phase.
  • Collaboration with Design Engineering: Work closely with design engineers to ensure that designs are manufacturable, integrating manufacturing process capabilities early in the design cycle.
  • Technology Maturation: Develop technology roadmaps aligned to product needs, execute on technology projects, mature MRL milestones and lead successful deployment at production.
  • Production: Work with production shops to ensure process development and planning to enable full rate production meeting quality standards and delivery timelines.
  • Supplier Development: Evaluate and develop new suppliers, working with them on process development and production readiness.
  • Should Cost Methods: Analyze and estimate the cost of manufacturing processes to ensure cost-effectiveness while maintaining quality and delivery standards.
  • Design Integration: Participate in and potentially chair technical reviews ensuring that manufacturing considerations are incorporated into the design process.
  • Technical Training & Mentoring: Provide advanced training to technical teams, capture best practices and bring industry know-how to programs.
  • Leadership: Navigate business processes and manage risks during reviews, discussions and meetings with stakeholders and customers.
