Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering, automotive engineering, electrical engineering or a related field
  • 10+ years of experience in vehicle characteristics development, simulation and sciences in the automotive industry such as NVH, weight, aero dynamics, and range as well as data analysis, and interpretation for vehicles and/or components
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle systems and components, including vehicle electrification systems, chassis, drivetrain integration, electrical, and electronics as well as operational modes.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills with a track record of building and leading high-performing teams.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant regulatory and homologation standards and requirements or other regional regulations.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and simulation result interpretation.
  • Attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities within established timelines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the vehicle attributes & sciences team organization to ensure the overall integration strategy for vehicle attributes & sciences, ensuring seamless collaboration among various components, subsystems, and functionalities.
  • Develop comprehensive validation and verification plans for vehicle systems, including hardware, software, and whole vehicle performances, aligned with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Work collectively with the digital twin leads to analyze simulation results, including complex physics-based data, draw meaningful conclusions and make recommendations; ensure vehicle designs meet performance and safety requirements.
  • Manage technical expertise for on-road and track testing of prototype/development vehicles to validate simulation results and assess real-world performance, incorporating physics-based insights.
  • Lead the whole vehicle release and readiness process, confirming vehicles are ready for proving grounds, public road and vehicle development testing.
  • Work closely with other R&D departments, including Vehicle Dynamics, Aerodynamics, Powertrain, Energy, Body, Interior, to integrate characteristics and simulation efforts into the vehicle development process.
  • Responsible for balancing and maintaining approved budget, finding efficiencies not yet realized to streamline the development of the whole vehicle for the sciences and attributes team
  • Participate in and direct design reviews and provide technical guidance to ensure compliance during the development of new vehicle systems and components.
  • Responsible to lead and provide direction for triangle of responsibility attribute teams, tracking and aligning next steps for resolution between the Physical, Virtual and component leads.
