About The Position

Contentful is hiring a Senior Manager, Web Development to work directly with the Product Manager, Contentful.com and the Director, Web Marketing to define the technical vision & strategy, roadmap and lead the implementation for Contentful.com, helping us achieve our vision of being the world’s best example of a marketing website built on Contentful’s Composable Content Platform. What to expect? In this role you’ll get to work closely with senior stakeholders across the business to understand business strategy & goals, and work with internal teams and external partners to ensure our technical architecture, tech stack and development strategy are aligned to drive success for our site visitors and internal site users, and deliver impact against business goals.

Requirements

  • Advocate for headless/composable website philosophy and architecture and truly understand the opportunities it brings to deliver compelling and scalable digital experiences
  • Have extensive experience with technical architecture & development strategy and implementation of website experiences built with Contentful
  • Able to balance innovation and forward-planning with technical solutions that deliver immediate impact
  • Highly proficient in designing and developing front-end and back end-web architecture
  • Equally comfortable to provide technical delivery oversight as well as be hands on in technical development/implementation as we build out the team capabilities and capacity
  • Able to communicate at all levels across the organization, to technical and non-technical groups to generate buy-in
  • Inspired by the opportunity to get your hands on the latest and greatest product and features (and be among the first to use our new tech)
  • Motivated to build a highly-engaged and effective Web Development team
  • Extensive experience front-end and back-end development (hands-on and overseeing) React.js/Next.js
  • 5+ years of leading website strategy & development (Marketing website experience is highly desirable)
  • 5+ years experience leading web development or engineering teams

Responsibilities

  • Build a globally-distributed high-performing, engaged and effective Web Development team
  • Set the technical strategy and approach to make contentful.com the world’s best example of a marketing website on Contentful
  • Work closely with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate these into technical requirements for the Web Development team
  • Utilize external research, customer/user feedback and data analytics as inputs in definition of technical and experience improvements for contentful.com
  • Define technical roadmap & rollout plan and prioritizes in conjunction with Product Manager to deliver business impact and user value
  • Oversee , implementation, maintenance, and evolution (including business case development) of the website technology stack to ensure contentful.com is highly performant, robust and scalable as our business needs evolve
  • Lead the technical scoping and refinement of development features and tasks
  • Direct the Web Development team in the solutioning, coding, testing and debugging of technical solutions, projects and tickets
  • Oversee & write testable, scalable and efficient code and lead code reviews
  • Mentor junior team members and ensuring they adhere to determined development philosophy and technical/coding quality standards
  • Build close working relationships with Contentful’s Product teams to ensure early sight and adoption for new products and features to be utilized on the website
  • Liaise and coordinate with Marketing Operations, Core Data, IT and Security teams to ensure full coverage/implementation and maintenance of our martech stack
  • Plans team capacity and coverage to ensure global coverage of technical tasks and continuous web operations
