About The Position

The Senior Manager, UI Platform & Design Systems plans, organizes, and leads a major application development area focused on enterprise UI platforms and design systems. This role operates at the intersection of Design and Engineering, owning the shared UI platform that enables consistent, scalable user experiences across the enterprise. This position is located in Springfield, MO. Areas of Focus UI Platform & Design Systems Own the enterprise Design System from Figma assets and design tokens to production-ready React components. Establish and enforce UI standards, accessibility (WCAG), and governance models. Treat the UI platform as a product, focusing on adoption, scalability, and developer experience (DX). UI Architecture Lead the Micro Frontend (MFE) architecture supporting enterprise applications. Define frontend standards for React architecture, state management, and performance. Guide adoption of shared UI infrastructure and Module Federation patterns. Essential Job Functions Lead the design, development, and delivery of UI platform and design system initiatives. Manage and develop a hybrid team of UI Designers and UI Engineers. Provide hands-on technical and design leadership, including architecture guidance and design critique. Act as gatekeeper for UI patterns and components, preventing one-off or non-standard solutions. Lead hiring, performance management, and career development. Prioritize initiatives based on business impact and platform value. Collaborate with product, engineering, and architecture stakeholders. Manage capacity planning, resource allocation, and budgets. Ensure compliance with development standards and accessibility requirements. Stay current on frontend and design system technologies.

Requirements

  • Proven experience leading enterprise UI platforms or design systems.
  • Deep hands-on experience with React (architecture, state management, performance).
  • Strong fluency in design principles, typography, layout, and accessibility (WCAG).
  • Experience building or scaling a Design System, including tokens and governance.
  • Experience with Micro Frontend architectures.
  • Ability to lead hybrid teams of designers and engineers.
  • Strong communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of frontend, UI, or design systems experience.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Figma, Storybook, and design-to-code workflows.
  • Experience with Module Federation.
  • Background as a Design Technologist, UX Engineer, or Frontend Architect.
  • Cloud platform experience (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
