About The Position

The Senior Manager of Strategy & Development is a key leader responsible for organizational growth, driving long-term strategy, and ensuring the sustainability of the mission through robust fundraising and stakeholder engagement. This role blends strategic planning with development management, leadership on resource generation, cross-functional alignment, and the advancement of initiatives that expand the organization’s reach and impact.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Leadership to design and execute the organization’s strategic plan.
  • Identify emerging opportunities, challenges, and trends to position the organization for long-term success.
  • Lead cross-functional projects that enhance operational efficiency and mission delivery.
  • Develop metrics and evaluation processes to track organizational performance against goals.
  • Oversee all fundraising strategies, including peer to peer, major gifts, annual giving, corporate partnerships, and special campaigns.
  • Manage a portfolio of high-level donors and prospects, cultivating and securing major contributions.
  • Manage major donor teams/campaigns including the IRONMAN 70.3 and IRONMAN World Championship Teams, Cape Epic, and other high-level racing opportunities.
  • Partner with leadership to strengthen fundraising capacity and expand networks.
  • Collaborate with IRONMAN and IRONMAN Foundation staff to ensure compelling storytelling and donor engagement.
  • Serve as staff liaison to the Board Development/Strategy Committees, preparing materials and guiding fundraising and strategic planning discussions.
  • Equip board with tools to effectively support fundraising and external relations.
  • Represent the organization at key IRONMAN events, and additional community, corporate, and philanthropic events.
  • Supervise and mentor marketing and development staff, fostering collaboration and accountability.
  • Manage budgets for strategy and development functions, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities.
  • Promote a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and results driven teamwork.
