As a Senior Manager, Software Engineering, you will lead a software engineering team dedicated to modernizing and transforming the platforms that support Walmart Associates in the US and around the world. Requirements

  • A constant desire to improve, learn more and take things to the next level and a passion for adopting the latest industry best practices.
  • Experience leading teams and people in a technical capacity.
  • Experience with agile frameworks and facilitating ceremonies.
  • Strong in competencies around planning, communication, and stakeholder management
  • CI/CD experience including automated testing experience with mindset to build self-testing code.
  • A disciplined approach to development, code review, testing, documentation, and code structure in a team environment.
  • Professional experience as a Software Engineer, across front-end & back-end stacks.
  • Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 5 years' experience in software engineering or related area. Option 2: 7 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
  • 2 years' supervisory experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience/Expertise with managing Workday engineering teams is highly preferred
  • Master's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years' experience in software engineering or related area.

Responsibilities

  • Technical Leadership: Drive the technical vision and strategy for the engineering team. Stay current with cutting-edge technologies and best practices in software engineering.
  • Business Acumen and Strategic Planning: Comprehend the business context of the work, make informed decisions that align with the overall leadership vision and strategy and identify opportunities to leverage technology to drive business outcomes.
  • Team Management: Manage a team of highly skilled engineers. Foster a positive, inclusive, and collaborative work environment. Facilitate team meetings, code reviews, and knowledge sharing sessions.
  • Project Management: Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget. Monitor project progress, manage risks, and ensure high standards of quality.
  • Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to team members. Promote continuous learning and professional development within the team.
