About The Position

Senior Manager, Software Engineer Management – AWS Development (Digital Health) We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer, Senior Manager (AWS Developer) to lead multiple engineering teams delivering secure, scalable digital health experiences on AWS. This is a senior “player-coach + org leader” role: you’ll set technical direction across a broader product/platform scope, develop engineering leaders, and stay close enough to the technology to make high-quality architecture and delivery decisions. You’ll partner deeply with Product, Design, Security, and Compliance to build systems that improve outcomes for patients and healthcare providers—reliably, safely, and at global scale. You’re an experienced engineering leader who can operate at multiple altitudes: shaping strategy, aligning stakeholders, building a healthy org, and diving into complex architectural decisions when needed. You bring strong judgment, a bias for execution, and a track record of growing teams and leaders while raising the bar on engineering excellence. Joining us is more than saying “yes” to making the world a healthier place. It’s discovering a career that’s challenging, supportive, and inspiring—where a culture driven by excellence helps you meet your goals and create new ones. We focus on building a diverse and inclusive culture, encouraging individual expression, and thriving on the innovative ideas this generates. If this sounds like the workplace for you, apply now! We commit to respond to every applicant. Joining us is more than saying “yes” to making the world a healthier place. It’s discovering a career that’s challenging, supportive and inspiring. Requirements

  • 10+ years of professional software development experience, including significant ownership of AWS-based production systems operating at scale.
  • 5+ years in engineering leadership roles, including managing managers and/or leading multiple teams through sustained delivery and organizational growth.
  • Deep expertise in cloud-native architecture on AWS (e.g., Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, S3, SQS/SNS, EventBridge, CloudWatch, CloudFront, RDS/Aurora, IAM) and the ability to choose pragmatic patterns for reliability, cost, and velocity.
  • Strong proficiency in Python and software design fundamentals (clean architecture, OO principles, patterns), with demonstrated ability to set technical standards and influence code quality across teams.
  • Proven experience with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation, CDK) and operating multi-environment deployments with strong governance and repeatability.
  • Strong grasp of API and distributed systems design: REST, authN/authZ (OAuth2, JWT), event-driven architectures, service boundaries, and data consistency tradeoffs.
  • Experience designing and evolving data models across NoSQL and relational systems, including performance optimization and operational considerations.
  • Track record of building strong DevOps practices and engineering excellence: CI/CD, Git workflows, containers, observability, testing strategy, and pragmatic automation.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through ambiguity, align cross-functional stakeholders, and make high-quality decisions with incomplete information.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including executive-level updates and the ability to translate technical complexity into clear options and tradeoffs.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering (or similar) or equivalent practical experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in digital health and regulated environments (HIPAA, SOC 2, HITRUST) and building audit-ready systems and processes.
  • Experience with modern front-end stacks (TypeScript, React/Angular) and leading full-stack product delivery across multiple teams.
  • Familiarity with privacy/security best practices (PII/PHI handling, encryption, key management, least privilege) and threat modeling in cloud environments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and grow engineering leaders and teams (including managers), creating a culture of ownership, inclusion, high standards, and continuous improvement.
  • Set org-level technical direction for a portfolio of services and user experiences on AWS, driving alignment on architecture, standards, and long-term platform strategy.
  • Act as a senior technical leader: guide critical architectural decisions, review high-impact designs, and periodically contribute hands-on to unblock key initiatives or de-risk complex work.
  • Own delivery outcomes across multiple squads: roadmap execution, resourcing, dependency management, and predictable, high-quality delivery in an agile environment.
  • Partner with product and design leadership to define strategy, translate business goals into technical plans, and ensure teams deliver measurable user and business impact.
  • Establish and evolve engineering mechanisms that scale: design reviews, technical governance, quality gates, documentation norms, and shared patterns for AWS usage.
  • Drive operational excellence: observability standards, reliability targets (SLOs), incident response maturity, post-incident learning, and systematic risk reduction.
  • Ensure systems are secure, compliant, and privacy-forward by design, collaborating with Security/Compliance on controls relevant to healthcare (e.g., HIPAA) and audit readiness.
  • Guide the evolution of CI/CD, deployment strategies, and developer experience to enable fast feedback, safe releases, and high engineering throughput.
  • Build and execute hiring and talent strategy: role definitions, leveling, interview loops, onboarding, succession planning, and performance management across the org.
  • Communicate clearly and proactively with senior stakeholders, representing engineering progress, tradeoffs, risks, and investment needs with strong judgment and clarity.
