Senior Manager, Software Development Engineering Our Technology Team partners with teams across Expedia Group to create innovative products, services, and tools to deliver high-quality experiences for travelers, partners, and our employees. A singular technology platform powered by data and machine learning provides secure, differentiated, and personalized experiences that drive loyalty and traveler satisfaction. Expedia Global Payments (EGP) is looking for top engineering talent to help drive the development of our payment platform, seamlessly roll out new payment methods, and continuously improve on our operational excellence and engineering practices. We offer a highly dynamic set of services that enable customers from all over the world to pay for travel in a variety of ways. We build, operate, and improve payment services for Expedia Group's brands, our suppliers (hoteliers, airlines, vacation rental owners/agencies, etc.), and our corporate needs. We do this accurately and at scale, processing over $100 billion payments in 55+ currencies in over 155 countries every year, and across a diverse set of payment options! Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent related professional experience.
  • 8+ years of software engineering experience.
  • 3+ years of experience managing engineers.
  • Proven delivery record in large-scale distributed or transaction-heavy backend systems.

Responsibilities

  • Drives end-to-end product and technology execution by anticipating cross-team bottlenecks, leading implementation of new approaches, defining success metrics, managing product lifecycle (including phase-out), and partnering with Product and Architecture to deliver the roadmap.
  • Ensures engineering excellence and platform health by advocating for best-in-class software design, modern frameworks and architectures, operational rigor (testing, resiliency, scalability, SLAs), system reliability, observability, and continuous improvement of the technology stack.
  • Aligns technology with business outcomes through deep understanding of customer needs, industry trends, and business drivers, effectively bridging technical and non-technical stakeholders and ensuring improvements are prioritized and executed with clear business impact.
  • Leads and scales high-performing engineering teams by assessing skill gaps, optimizing resource utilization and staffing mix, developing action plans, and ensuring teams deliver high-scale, low-latency, customer-critical services.
  • Develops talent and fosters a culture of growth by mentoring and coaching Individual Contributors and Managers, providing regular feedback, supporting professional development, sharing domain knowledge across teams, and driving performance management, hiring, and succession planning.
  • Leads AI-first adoption and automation by championing AI-assisted design, development, testing, and operational workflows; identifying high-impact use cases; and driving measurable improvements in engineering productivity, quality, and time-to-market through responsible and scalable AI integration.
