About The Position

Primary Function of Position The Senior Manager, Services Program Management, structures and organizes a diverse set of activities in support of Global Services readiness to provide high-quality customer experience with Intuitive products. The Sr. Manager, Services Program Management orchestrates activities on behalf of the Global Services Business Unit (GSBU) in support of launching new products and executing key strategic initiatives within demanding product release schedules. They must be highly organized and detail-oriented and interact fluidly and effectively with numerous individuals and departments. The Sr. Manager will have a close working relationship with Intuitive's Engineering teams / Engineering PMO and the Field Service, Technical Support, Customer Success, and Service Operations teams supporting each product. With the development and introduction of new products, the Sr. Manager will lead a team responsible for identifying service strategies, service requirements, risks, deliverables, and schedules supporting a specific Intuitive product line. The success of the Services Program Management team is mission critical to the success of the Global Services Business Unit. Requirements

  • Must be a highly passionate individual who cares deeply about delivering improved surgical solutions to patients and has the proven ability to coordinate the efforts of talented people.
  • Strong project/program management, planning, decision making, negotiating, and change management skills.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience leading the introduction of new products into a service or manufacturing operations environment.
  • Strong experience managing a small team of project/program managers and project coordinators, preferably in a regulated industry.
  • Exceptional aptitude for cultivating collaboration across department boundaries.
  • Proven influence in cross-functional teams without formal authority to ensure project success.
  • Strong communication, influence, leadership, change management, conflict management and negotiation skills.
  • High level of proficiency using Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, or other Project Management software.
  • Must possess strong attention to detail, individual initiative, and a sense of ownership.
  • Must be an effective communicator, capable of interfacing with all levels of the organization, from front-line engineers to executives.
  • Requires knowledge of engineering, product strategy, and business management.
  • Comfortable with all phases of the product development lifecycle, including idea generation, concept development, testing, design, implementation, validation, and transfer.
  • Budgets, project/program cost tracking, and other technical management administrative experience
  • Four-year degree (Bachelor's degree or global equivalent) in Engineering or a scientific field preferred, business, finance or other related field will be considered in conjunction with experience.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in people leadership (or equivalent)

Nice To Haves

  • Operations and/or medical device industry experience preferred.
  • PMP or other project management certification preferred.
  • Capable of maintaining a rapid pace, enjoying having multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Can change course, be scrappy, and get things done on short timeframes.
  • Experience working in a regulated environment.
  • Familiarity with medical device regulations – CFR & ISO preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a small team of highly capable, professional project managers and coordinators to meet the needs of the organization.
  • Organize and prioritize the work of the team to accomplish the objectives of the SPMO.
  • Act as player-coach for staff. Develop their capabilities and provide professional development path.
  • Periodically assess staff performance and provide feedback, both formal and informal.
  • Manage the activities and deliverables of the Global Services Core Team for all projects in assigned scope from project initiation through product release.
  • Help the functional managers of the Core Team plan and execute all activities required to achieve project goals.
  • Facilitate resource planning, load balancing, and priority setting by functional managers by providing clear, concise, actionable data.
  • Coordinate effectively with multiple teams who are driving overall product development programs, to understand project goals, scope, and timelines, and help functional managers negotiate resources and schedules.
  • Develop new and improved work processes for the SPMO. Explore, champion, and build new processes that make the overall organization more effective and efficient, and result in better products faster.
  • Enhance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Contributes to product development process optimization by sharing best practice development, lessons learned, resource leveling, and process input.
  • Presents project status updates to senior management team.
