Position Summary The Senior Manager, Research and Scientific Communications leads public-facing communications that elevate the scientific enterprise of Versiti across corporate and service line channels. Reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer, this role drives strategic storytelling and content development that translate complex science into compelling narratives for diverse audiences. This position develops and executes integrated communications strategies that amplify the work of the Versiti Blood Research Institute (VBRI) and support the visibility and market presence of Versiti's scientific and clinical service lines, including Versiti Clinical Trials (VCTS), Versiti Diagnostic Laboratories, and MSI. The Strategist serves as a key architect of research and scientific storytelling across earned, owned, and shared channels, helping position Versiti as a national leader in blood health innovation, translational science, and clinical advancement. Working closely with researchers, physicians, marketing leaders, and communications partners, this role translates complex scientific work into clear, engaging content that advances brand reputation, supports commercial growth, and strengthens Versiti's voice in the scientific community.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Communications, public relations, journalism, marketing or related field required
  • 7-9 years Progressive experience in communications, content strategy, or marketing, required
  • 4-6 years Demonstrated success in translating complex scientific or technical information into compelling public-facing content required
  • 4-6 years Demonstrated success in strategic communications across media, public relations, social media and corporate campaigns required
  • 4-6 years Demonstrated success developing communications for scientific, healthcare, academic, or research organizsation, preferably non profit required
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in research and scientific storytelling, content strategy, and integreated communications across a variety of media, social media, PR, and corporate communications campaign management required
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate strategic concepts and creative ideas to diverse audiences required
  • Proven ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams and manage complex projects effectively required
  • Strategic and executional prowess with a proactive, solution-oriented mindset required
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment while maintaining accountability and ownership required
  • Proven ability to collaborate with researchers, clinicians, or scientific subject matter experts required
  • Collaborative, positive, proactive attitude with a commitment to fostering a high performing team culture required

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Research and Scientific Communications (30%) Develop and execute integrated communications strategies that elevate the work of the Versiti Blood Research Institute and the broader scientific enterprise of Versiti. Translate complex research, clinical science, and diagnostic innovation into accessible and compelling narratives for external audiences. Draft and edit scientific announcements, press materials, executive talking points, and thought leadership content. Partner with communications, PR, and marketing teams to ensure research and science communications align with Versiti’s brand strategy and organizational priorities.
  • Enterprise Content Strategy for Scientific Service Lines (25%) Lead content strategy supporting Versiti’s commercial scientific services, including Versiti Clinical Trials (VCTS), Diagnostic Laboratories, and MSI. Develop messaging frameworks and narrative platforms that articulate the value and differentiation of these service lines. Partner with service line marketing leaders to produce high-impact content that supports awareness, engagement, and market positioning. Create scalable content assets including case studies, research highlights, expert commentary, and multimedia storytelling.
  • Stakeholder Engagement and Scientific Storytelling (15%) Partner with scientists, physicians, and research leadership to identify compelling stories that demonstrate the impact of Versiti’s research and clinical work. Translate scientific breakthroughs, innovations, and collaborations into content for diverse audiences including clinicians, researchers, healthcare partners, and the broader public. Develop audience-specific messaging tailored to scientific, clinical, and industry stakeholders.
  • Digital and Multimedia Scientific Content (10%) Develop digital content that supports research and scientific communications including website features, social media storytelling, and multimedia narratives. Collaborate with digital marketing, creative services, and PR teams to produce integrated campaigns that showcase scientific innovation and discovery.
  • Scientific Events and Industry Engagement (10%) Support communications strategies for scientific conferences, research announcements, and industry engagement opportunities. Develop promotional and post-event communications that extend the reach and impact of Versiti’s scientific presence.
  • Data-Driven Communications and Metrics (5%) Establish KPIs to measure the impact of scientific communications efforts. Monitor analytics and engagement metrics to refine messaging and optimize content performance.
  • Team Collaboration and Organizational Alignment (5%) Work collaboratively within the integrated communications and marketing teams to support enterprise initiatives. Coordinate messaging across communications, marketing, PR, and digital teams to ensure alignment and consistency. Contribute to a culture of collaboration, innovation, and high performance across the communications function.
