Manages and leads SCCM’s research, data science, and quality initiatives.
Requirements
Clinical background such as nursing, pharmacy, respiratory therapy, or related scientific field. Master’s degree or higher preferred.
Supervisory experience preferred.
Five years of experience in clinical research, including QI or research project management, development of award applications, and skills in data analysis and presentation.
Supervisory experience preferred.
Current knowledge of best practices in clinical research, and familiarity with funding agencies such as National Institutes of Health, Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, and Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute.
Excellent communication, analytic, and organizational skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with database applications such as REDCap.
Must be able to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary setting.
Responsibilities
Program Management
Develops and manages research programs that align with SCCM’s strategic plan, including implementation of the business plan of SCCM’s Discovery, the Critical Care Research Network.
Tracks and maintains oversight of Discovery projects and programs, including resource allotment and budget.
Supports site and member recruitment, project design, and dissemination of findings for projects and programs.
Updates principal investigators on project status, budget, and other matters related to their assigned projects and programs.
Works collaboratively with other research and quality staff on implementation of activities for Discovery data coordinating and clinical coordinating center.
Tracks projects and programs and periodically reports barriers and progress to associate director.
Develops and manages an ICU Centers of Excellence component within the quality business line, including working with member volunteers and appropriate SCCM departments for program development and implementation.
Works collaboratively with other SCCM departments on development and implementation of Discovery resources, events, and projects.
Operations
Works collaboratively with associate director and volunteers to help set strategic priorities for Discovery.
Supervises research staff and supports team members daily to complete projects within deadline. Tracks projects and periodically reports barriers and progress to associate director.
Ensures compliance with SCCM’s policies, operating procedures, and legal affairs.
Manages committees, task forces, and work groups to facilitate accomplishment of related charges as assigned by the SCCM president or Council.
Works closely with program development colleagues to incorporate QI and research program findings into SCCM’s educational programs.
Proposal Development and Collaboration
Works collaboratively with staff and volunteers to identify potential sources of new quality and research funding.
Works with the grants/research manager in the development of award applications to ensure that they are accurately completed and submitted for timely review.
Maintains open communications and ongoing relationships with funding sponsors.
Works collaboratively with staff to ensure publication and promotion of QI and research projects.
