The Senior Manager, Record to Report, leads the execution and continuous improvement of financial reporting and accounting processes, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and operational excellence. This role oversees complex financial statement preparation, internal controls, and risk management while fostering collaboration across functions to drive efficiency and effectiveness. The position requires strong leadership in mentoring teams, managing stakeholder relationships, and implementing process automation. By aligning financial strategies with business objectives, the Senior Manager supports informed decision-making and contributes to Walmart’s commitment to integrity, accountability, and sustainable growth. About the team: The Lease Accounting Center (LAC) is a key part of Walmart’s Enterprise Business Services group, ensuring accurate lease accounting and disclosures across global operations. The team manages controllership activities including lease data abstraction, system reviews, controls ownership, monthly book closings, rollforwards, and footnote disclosures. Operating in compliance with US GAAP (ASC 842) and IFRS 16 standards, the LAC is recognized for precision and strong customer service. The team collaborates across functions to maintain financial integrity and supports continuous improvement in lease accounting processes and reporting.

Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of accounting principles including GAAP, IFRS, and financial statement analysis.
  • Proven experience in managing month-end closing, account reconciliations, and financial reporting processes.
  • Strong expertise in financial controls, internal controls, and risk management frameworks.
  • Ability to analyze complex financial data and develop actionable insights to support business plans.
  • Skilled in process improvement methodologies and automation to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Demonstrated leadership in supervising teams, setting performance standards, and fostering continuous development.
  • Proficient in stakeholder engagement and cross-functional collaboration to drive strategic initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the execution of business plans by identifying operational needs, setting priorities, and removing obstacles to enhance performance.
  • Oversee financial statement analysis, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and compliance with accounting standards including GAAP and IFRS.
  • Develop and implement internal controls, risk mitigation strategies, and process improvements for month-end closing and account reconciliations.
  • Manage cross-functional partnerships to drive collaboration and align financial objectives across teams and markets.
  • Supervise and mentor associates, fostering a high-performing team environment with clear performance expectations.
  • Monitor adherence to policies, evaluate financial risks, and recommend solutions to support organizational goals.
