We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Manager, Project Finance and Performance in the FP&A department to establish and drive a state-of-the-art financial and performance management framework specifically for RVT’s complex, large-scale technical development projects based on defined Statements of Work (SoW). This new role will contribute to ensure the financial integrity, successful delivery, and optimal resource utilization across all defined SoW. The role is ideal for a hands-on manager with a strong background in financial planning and analysis on a company and project level, willing to contribute and thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. You will work closely with Finance leadership, Product Strategy, Program Management, and other cross-functional partners across the Joint Venture and Rivian to provide data-driven insights that support critical business decisions regarding SoW performance and profitability. This role reports to the Director of FP&A (Financial Planning and Analysis). Located in our Palo Alto, California office, this position offers a standard hybrid schedule with the expectation of being in the office three days a week.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive financial model specifically for technology development projects based on Statements of Work (SoW), covering budgeting, forecasting, tracking, and reporting.
  • Establish and document clear financial policies, processes, and controls for SoW execution to ensure compliance and process transparency across relevant departments.
  • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for SoW financial health, including budget vs. actuals, proactive variance analysis, and project burn rates.
  • Lead the periodic financial review process for active SoW projects, collaborating with Product Strategy and Program Management to understand performance drivers and potential risks/opportunities.
  • Prepare and present detailed financial performance reports for SoW projects to senior management and key stakeholders including parent companies, providing insights and recommendations for courses of action.
  • Collaborate closely within the Financial Planning and Analysis team and the Accounting team to ensure consistency with corporate financial planning, accurate revenue recognition, capitalization, and cost allocation related to SoW projects.
  • Serve as the primary finance liaison for the Product Management, Product Strategy, and engineering teams on all SoW-related financial matters, ensuring alignment between technical delivery and financial performance goals.
  • Oversee the financial lifecycle of SoW projects, including managing billing milestones, customer invoicing processes, and tracking payments.
  • Partner with the IT department and relevant system owners to support the implementation and optimization of ERP and project management systems to improve SoW financial data capture and (ad hoc) reporting capabilities.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in finance, project finance, accounting or a related field in high-growth environments
  • Bachelor’s/ Master’s degree in Finance, Business, or a related field
  • Strong analytical mindset with experience in financial process management, ERP, AI-driven data analytics, and decision-making frameworks
  • Highly organized and comfortable managing ambiguity in fast-moving environments and across hierarchy levels
  • Track record in leading cross-functional project teams and key projects
