About The Position

A Day in Your Life at MKS: We are seeking a Sr. Manager, Project Engineering, who will lead the management and execution of cross-functional Product Development Process (PDP) projects collaborating with internal and external stakeholders and customers. You Will Make an Impact By: Embracing and embodying positive organizational cultural change, including modeling positive, effective mindsets and behaviors and mentoring and guiding junior technical and professional staff. Delivering Product Development Process (PDP) programs and projects against scope, schedule, cost, resources, and quality. Delivering other assigned programs and projects. Collaborating with internal and external cross functional stakeholders and customers to gather and analyze requirements for PDP and Project Management (PM) planning and execution. Collaborating closely with internal and external stakeholders and customers throughout the PDP during project initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closing phases. Creating and managing the project master plan and schedule throughout the PDP. Proactively anticipating and identifying problems (“looking around corners”) during PDP planning and project execution and implementing solutions to those problems. Utilizing and leveraging existing PDP and PM processes and systems to communicate program and project status and provide transparency to internal and external stakeholders, management, and executives that enables data driven decision making. Implementing and participating in improving organization PM and Project Portfolio Management (PPM) methodology, processes, practices, governance and escalation including KPIs and standard reports and dashboards. Recommending and participating in adoption of technology solutions that enhance PM capabilities. Participating in organization Continuous Improvement efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Physics degree required. Other technical degrees may be considered based on strength of applicant’s resume/experience.
  • 10+ years’ experience as a program or project manager in a technical environment (typically hardware product development, manufacturing, or R&D) full time or 10+ years with significant project accomplishment.
  • Technical expertise in capital equipment, system or modules PDP; semiconductor, laser or optics technology or equivalent.
  • Expertise with project management tools such as MS Project, OnePlan, Jira, Planview.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead diverse and globally dispersed teams and manage multidisciplinary tasks.
  • Expert at project controls: schedule planning, development and management, resource allocation and critical path analysis.
  • Strong leader with ability to resolve conflicts and simultaneously team build.
  • Strong influencing and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to complete administrative details while maintaining larger vision of program or project.
  • Previous customer interaction experience is nice to have; willingness to interact with customers is a must.
  • Entrepreneurial and creative approach to problem resolution, but process follower.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of formal Project Management training and Program Management certification (PMI, IPMA, etc.) or equivalent, preferred.
  • Experience with cloud-based solutions, enterprise resource planning (ERP) and product life cycle management (PLM), strongly preferred
