About The Position

Collins Aerospace’s Power & Controls team is seeking a Product Engineering Manager to lead the full lifecycle of fuel controls and electro-mechanical components from technology development and new product introduction to manufacturing and aftermarket support. This key leadership role oversees a team of engineers and is responsible for driving strategy, technical execution, and engineering excellence. As part of a matrixed organization, the role involves leading cross-functional engineering teams, managing technical projects, and collaborating closely with Global Engineering, Operations, and external customers. This is a customer-facing position requiring strong communication skills and serves as a primary point of contact for both internal and external stakeholders. We’re looking for an innovative, action-oriented leader who thrives in a collaborative environment. You'll work with program and discipline chiefs, fellows, and subject matter experts to strengthen our product line and support strategic planning, business development, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience.

  • Advanced degree in Mechanical or Systems.
  • 7+ years of engineering experience, including 4+ years in a leadership or technical management role.
  • Proven ability to lead in a complex technical environment, managing cross-functional teams and collaborating across the value stream.
  • Strong track record of meeting cost, schedule, and performance targets across the product lifecycle.
  • Experience in technical project execution, root cause investigations, and driving continuous improvement.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across all levels, including executives and customers.

  • Strong customer focus and commitment to driving engineering excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Propose, manage, and drive engineering projects and initiatives to ensure successful completion within planned timelines and budgets, while meeting customer expectations.
  • Collaborate with functional managers and across the value stream to execute tasks aligned with engineering goals and program needs.
  • Provide technical engineering support to both factory operations and field service teams.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including senior executives.
  • Develop and lead strategies that align the engineering team with overall business objectives.
  • Create long-term plans to improve engineering productivity through standardization, advanced methods, tools, and low-cost engineering sourcing.
  • Analyze engineering systems and processes to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Develop engineering investment strategies to support business capture and long-term growth.
  • Support the business by creating technology roadmaps, securing investment, and contributing to successful proposals.
  • Lead root cause investigations and ensure timely resolution of issues.
  • Mentor, coach, and develop engineering talent to build a high-performing team.
  • Champion a strong, customer-centric culture that empowers and engages the team.
