The Senior Manager, Production Operations will join the Technology & Operations team at the Boston Media Center in Needham, MA, supporting NBC10 Boston, NBC Sports Boston, Telemundo Boston, and all other production operations at the facility. This role is primarily responsible for leading the team delivering daily live news & sports production, managing the control room(s), and coordinating with media operations. The Senior Manager will also serve as a key engagement lead to other departments, ensuring successful delivery of production services to internal client groups. In this role, you will partner with the Director of Technology to support business needs, while being the liaison connecting the Operations and Technology Support Teams. You will also have the opportunity to collaborate with other division production leadership in projects and other initiatives. The ideal candidate enjoys working with people, knows how to build high-performing teams, and wants to make a positive impact working in local live production.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 years relevant experience, including minimum 3 years of leadership experience, consisting of people management, service leadership, or indirect leadership.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, radio, television & film, related fields or equivalent experience.
  • Experience managing personnel.
  • Experience leading local news or live event production operations.
  • Prior experience as a Director or TD within automated control room environments.
  • History of establishing and maintaining operational standards and team accountability.
  • History of establishing and maintaining client relationships, resulting in satisfied stakeholders.
  • Ability to foster a collaborative environment while rolling out new processes and procedures.
  • Knowledge of FCC rules and laws pertaining to news broadcasting on multi-media platforms.
  • Written and oral fluency in English.
  • Must be willing to work in Needham, MA.
  • Willingness to travel and work outside standard hours, and on weekends with short notice.
  • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Leading the Operations team responsible for executing live and recorded productions.
  • Responsible for overall technical execution and quality of live productions.
  • Responsible for staffing and supervisory duties of Automated Production Control (APC) Operators, including hiring, scheduling and performance management in accordance with station policies.
  • Develop, maintain, and ensure team execution of standard operating procedures.
  • Partner with Director of Technology and act as primary, customer-facing liaison for technical execution of Production support.
  • Planning and execution of live event coverage (parades, debates, etc.).
  • Collaborate with News, Technology and other departments as needed through regular and clear communications with Department Heads and employees.
  • Provide on-call coverage for breaking news and disaster recovery scenarios as needed.
  • Lead operational response and stakeholder communication during incident and disaster recovery scenarios impacting production operations.
  • All other duties as assigned.
