About The Position

Genentech is seeking a Senior Manager for Product Public Relations who will be responsible for the development and execution of communications and public relations strategies. This role will work closely with various internal stakeholders, including Commercial, Public Affairs & Access, U.S. Medical Affairs, and Global colleagues. The candidate will need to understand the communications and campaign requirements for reaching diverse audiences such as media, healthcare professionals, patients, and policymakers. The position is based in South San Francisco and requires about 25 to 35% domestic travel.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in delivering impactful, strategic communications programs.
  • Solid understanding of clinical data and regulatory milestones.
  • Experience in translating scientific/technical content for a broad range of audiences.
  • Experience in crafting consumer- and HCP-facing campaigns supporting brand strategic objectives.
  • Ability to combine strategic thinking with hands-on delivery.
  • Outstanding writing skills and proven media relations and digital communications skills.
  • Strong oral and presentation skills; ability to negotiate and persuade.
  • Significant experience in leading issues preparedness and issues management.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute insights-driven, high impact and integrated U.S. communications and public relations strategies in support of assigned therapy area and/or medicine(s).
  • Proactively engage media and influencers around data and regulatory milestones.
  • Serve as media relations expert by maintaining relationships with key reporters and developing pitch angles.
  • Support issues preparedness by anticipating emerging issues and developing mitigation plans.
  • Work closely with Legal, Regulatory, Medical and other key internal stakeholders on the review and approval of materials/assets.
  • Effectively manage agency relationships and budget to ensure delivery of support through clear objectives and KPIs.
