About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Senior Operations Engineering Manager to lead our Mechanical Commissioning, Integration and Testing organization for Material Handling Equipment (MHE). This role will be instrumental in developing and implementing systems that ensure high-quality installations and commissioning processes across Amazon's global network of fulfillment centers. Your work will directly influence the successful launch and operation of Amazon's fulfillment centers worldwide. You will be responsible for ensuring that multi-million dollar material handling systems are properly installed, tested, and commissioned to meet Amazon's high standards for safety, reliability, and performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related technical field
  • 10+ years of experience in industrial automation and MHE systems
  • 7+ years of experience leading engineering teams
  • Demonstrated experience in mechanical systems commissioning and integration
  • Strong project management skills with experience managing complex technical projects
  • Experience with MHE systems including conveyance, sortation, and automated storage systems
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing technical standards and procedures

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Engineering or related technical field
  • 10+ years specific experience in installation and commissioning of MHE equipment
  • Experience writing detailed job plans and technical specifications
  • Expertise with MHE tooling, alignment equipment, and measuring devices
  • Six Sigma or similar process improvement certification
  • Experience with AutoCAD and 3D modeling software
  • Strong understanding of safety systems and regulatory requirements
  • Experience with PLC programming and control systems

Responsibilities

  • A relentless pursuit of safe operations and the highest safety standards in the field
  • Lead and develop a team of engineers responsible for MHE commissioning, integration, and testing
  • Design and implement standardized commissioning processes and quality control systems
  • Develop comprehensive documentation and specifications for the RME (Reliability Maintenance Engineering) organization
  • Drive continuous improvement in installation and commissioning methodologies
  • Partner with multiple stakeholders including Construction, Start-up, RME, and Operations teams
  • Establish and maintain technical standards for equipment installation and commissioning
  • Create and maintain metrics to track commissioning quality and efficiency
  • Lead root cause analysis for installation and commissioning issues
  • Manage capital projects and resource allocation across multiple sites
  • Look to evolve commissioning using AI, robotics and automation tools
  • Travel up to 50% as required to support site launches and critical installations
  • Lead post mortem activities such as install evaluations and lessons learned
  • Used the lessons learned to continuously improve design and operations of the system
