About The Position

The Senior Manager, Onsite Search leads the development and implementation of strategies that elevate both internal search optimization tools and the customer-facing search experience on Grainger.com. The role represents the needs of the Onsite Search team and our customers, working closely with technical teams to build Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning powered tools and features that improve search performance. This is a hybrid role that can be based in Lake Forest or Chicago 3 days a week.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in business, data analytics, or a related field
  • 7+ years experience in ecommerce, search optimization, or a related field
  • 2+ years direct people management experience
  • Experience with search technologies, algorithms, and tools
  • Experience contributing to the development of search strategies, manage complex projects, and deliver results through collaboration
  • Experience leveraging data to inform decisions and measure success
  • Experience translating detailed technical information into actionable insights and influencing at all levels of the organization
  • Experience with User Acceptance Testing methodology

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the development and implementation of search optimization strategies, while ensuring alignment with business goals and customer needs
  • Responsible for establishing and ensuring the attainment of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for search performance metrics, including search-to-cart percentage, null percentage, search-related customer satisfaction, and other search result metrics
  • Act as a key partner to product teams, engineering, UX, and data science managing complex projects to implement the tools and features necessary to achieve search strategy
  • Oversee the analysis of search data and identify trends, customer pain points, and opportunities for enhancement
  • Articulate and advocate the vision and progress of search strategies and goals to leadership, positioning the team as a strategic driver of business success
  • Manage and mentor a dedicated team of Search Analysts, fostering a culture of innovation and accountability
