About The Position

Sara Lee desserts have always stood for incredible flavor and superior value in the frozen food aisle and away from home markets. For the first time in over 60 years, Sara Lee is operating independently as Sara Lee Frozen Bakery, a collection of top brands united in quality and innovation, including Sara Lee®, Chef Pierre®, Van’s®, Bistro Collection®, Superior on Main® and Cyrus O’Leary’s®. Sara Lee Frozen Bakery (SLFB) is proud to take our iconic brands into a new era and to continue the evolution that transformed one small Chicago bakery into an American institution. We became a stand-alone company in 2018 and though we are an established brand with a strong customer and consumer base, we have the feel of start up in many ways. If you have an entrepreneurial spirit, continually seek process improvements and a strong sense of customer service, then this is the right type of environment for you. The company is committed to making life’s moments a little sweeter, putting its customers first and discovering new ways to make everyone’s favorite foods even better. Summary: The Senior Manager of EDI & Integrations will lead the strategy, execution, and continuous improvement of SLFB’s enterprise EDI and integration ecosystem. This role is responsible for ensuring reliable, accurate, and efficient electronic data exchange across customers, suppliers, warehouses, transportation partners, and internal systems. The Senior Manager will oversee the full EDI organization—including the internal SLFB team, contractors, and vendor partners—while shaping a scalable support model that balances internal capability with external resources. The ideal candidate combines hands-on EDI and integrations expertise with strong leadership, cross-functional communication skills, and the ability to build a modernized roadmap aligned to business priorities.

  • Hands-on understanding of ANSI X12 transaction sets.
  • Experience overseeing integration platforms such as Boomi or similar middleware.
  • Prior responsibility for vendor management, contract oversight, and SLA governance.
  • Strong understanding of EDI mapping, APIs, XML/JSON, SFTP, AS2, and integration logic.
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems (NetSuite preferred), WMS solutions (RF-Smart), labeling/data flows, and food traceability systems.
  • Ability to evaluate integration architectures and guide design decisions.
  • Ability to elevate team capability through coaching, structured processes, and clear expectations.
  • Excellent communicator with the ability to translate complex technical issues into business impact and comfort speaking with non-technical cross-functional team members.
  • Decisive, highly accountable leader who drives urgency, follow-through, and continuous improvement.
  • Comfortable challenging legacy approaches and promoting structured, data-based decisions.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% to SLFB locations or vendor partners as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop the internal team direct reports and contract resources, building a high-performing, accountable EDI organization.
  • Define roles, expectations, SLAs, and operating norms that drive consistency, clarity, and team alignment.
  • Establish a culture of transparency, continuous communication, and disciplined follow-through around issue ownership and resolution.
  • Review how work is organized across the team and recommend role, process, or resource adjustments that improve execution and reduce bottlenecks.
  • Conduct a comprehensive assessment of SLFB’s current EDI ecosystem—including people, processes, technology, integrations, and vendor dependencies.
  • Define a future-state support model that optimizes how internal capabilities and external partners work together, based on cost, value, and risk.
  • Develop and maintain a multi-year EDI and integration roadmap aligned to business priorities, customer expectations, and SLFB’s technology architecture.
  • Identify chronic failure points, recurring defects, or manual workarounds and lead structured root-cause elimination.
  • Support integration planning for new customers, suppliers, logistics partners, and system implementations.
  • Oversee the reliability of all inbound and outbound transaction flows (orders, ASNs, invoices, trade deductions, warehouse transactions, transportation, and master data).
  • Establish and enforce mapping standards, documentation expectations, onboarding templates, and testing protocols.
  • Ensure SLAs for transaction timeliness, success rates, partner responsiveness, and error resolution are defined, monitored, and achieved.
  • Implement structured dashboards and reporting that provide visibility to transaction flows, backlog trends, and recurring issues.
  • Partner with Customer Service, Supply Chain, and Finance to ensure operational impacts are clearly understood and proactively addressed.
  • Provide technical oversight and direction for integrations developed in Boomi, ensuring scalable design patterns, proper error handling, and effective alerting.
  • Promote standardization of mapping logic, naming conventions, documentation, and reusable integration components.
  • Partner with the ERP & Reporting and Infrastructure IT teams to ensure clean, reliable integration points between other business systems.
  • Establish practices for validating, transforming, and reconciling upstream/downstream data to reduce manual corrections.
  • Manage relationships with Boomi and other integration partners, ensuring clear expectations and measurable accountability.
  • Evaluate vendor performance, service levels, and cost effectiveness; identify opportunities to consolidate or optimize support.
  • Lead vendor contract negotiations, where necessary, to ensure SLFB receives consistent value and predictable service.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for high-severity issues affecting customers, distributors, co-mans, transportation partners, and internal operations.
  • Communicate issue status, resolution timelines, and root-cause findings to stakeholders in clear, business-oriented language.
  • Provide weekly insights to Supply Chain, Customer Service, Finance, and IT leadership on transaction health, trends, and risk exposure.
  • Establish structured processes to prevent reoccurrence of issues and improve reliability over time.
  • Ensure EDI and integration processes meet customer compliance requirements.
  • Lead FSMA 204 technological solutions, supporting traceability, and recall readiness through accurate, timely, and complete data flows.
  • Maintain governance around mapping accuracy, security, control, audit trails, and data integrity.
