The Senior Manager of Compliance Education is responsible for leading the organization’s compliance and provider education initiatives. This role oversees the design, development, and delivery of training programs that promote accurate coding, documentation, and billing practices, such as monthly webinars, fact sheets, manuals, and other learning materials. Manages on-site education requests, affiliate conferences, and presentations. Leads provider education programs by designing and managing structured training initiatives that ensure precise coding, documentation, and billing practices, including group and individual provider training. Standardizes compliance documentation training to ensure consistent education across all entities, especially during onboarding. Supports physicians as strategic partners by offering ongoing guidance and resources that enhance clinical integrity and operational efficiency. Converts audit findings into targeted education to reduce errors and foster a strong compliance culture. Manages the educational aspects of compliance corrective action plans. The Senior Manager will directly supervise a small team of education auditors, though not the entire audit team, and is expected to work closely with compliance leadership. Collaborates with the Senior Regional Compliance Managers and the Compliance Auditor Analyst Manager to address areas for improvement. Communicates with the VP of Compliance, Audit, and Innovation to identify trends, potential risks, and suggests improvements to patient and customer experiences. To succeed in this professional role, an individual must have strong verbal and written communication skills. Confidence in developing, presenting, and leading coding and documentation efforts across the company is crucial. The ability to manage direct reports is also required. Candidates should be able to perform each primary responsibility accurately and confidently. They must have in-depth knowledge of physician group practices, standards for medical record maintenance and documentation, medical coding according to Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) and the International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Edition (ICD-10), reimbursement concepts, commercial payer policies, and local, state, and federal regulations. Strong organizational skills, the ability to meet deadlines, multitask, prioritize, and work independently in a remote setting are essential. Minimal travel is expected.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in business or healthcare administration is required. A master's degree is preferred.
  • Minimum 7–10 years of experience in healthcare compliance, coding, or provider education.
  • Proven experience in developing and delivering training programs.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing small teams.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
  • Ability to collaborate across departments and influence senior leadership.
  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA), and Certified Obstetrics and Gynecology Coder (COBGC) credentials with a minimum of ten years of medical coding experience in the OBGYN specialty.
  • Must maintain a valid and current coding certification.

Responsibilities

  • Lead educational content development (coding webinars, factsheets, manuals, learning materials). Handles care center/division and corporate sales force cases related to coding, billing, and documentation.
  • Manage education delivery (on-site requests, affiliate conferences, provider presentations) that enhance clinical integrity and operational efficiency.
  • Design and deliver structured training programs (group and one-on-one sessions) that support physicians as strategic partners by delivering ongoing guidance and resources.
  • Translate audit findings into targeted education (error reduction, compliance climate, effectiveness of education).
  • Manage education auditors (direct reports’ goals, personal and professional development).
  • Communicate with the VP of Compliance, Audit, and Innovation regarding any reportable findings or issues discovered during the audit that could pose a risk to the company.
  • Collaborate with compliance managers (address improvement areas, manage corrective action plans).
  • Other duties as assigned.
