As the Senior Manager of Business Development, Alternative Channels, you will be responsible for unlocking new growth opportunities beyond traditional retail. This role sits at the intersection of sales, strategy, and creativity—ideal for a builder who thrives without a predefined playbook. You will develop and execute business development strategies across foodservice, eCommerce, specialty retail, pop-up/kiosk and emerging channels, working both directly with retailers and through distributors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Management or related field.
  • Minimum of 8+ years of progressive experience in business development or sales.
  • Proven experience selling into foodservice channels (i.e. to restaurants/catering).
  • Proven experience taking a new product to market.
  • Experience working both directly with retailers and through distributors.
  • Exposure to both eCommerce and brick-and-mortar sales environments.
  • Some experience with pricing and commercial deal structures.
  • Ability to quickly shift priorities to meet deadlines and effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, clearly, concisely and with purpose at various levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work cross functionally at all levels including across locations, and collaborate with a focus on supporting & understanding the evolving business needs of a startup environment.
  • Ability to lead through others and develop teams with a diverse level of experience to succeed.
  • Ability to remove obstacles in order to prioritize which could include problem solving, working through ambiguity and using fact based or sound judgment in the absence of process or policy. We are building it, but need to manage through the process with good judgment and a bias for action.
  • Ability to synthesize information quickly to aid in the troubleshooting process.
  • Possessing an entrepreneurial mindset with the tenacity to develop ideas, process, and policy and implement them rapidly.
  • Capable of prioritizing tasks and considering the resources available when doing so.

  • Background in produce or consumer packaged goods strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Own the growth of alternative sales channels, identifying and converting new business opportunities – this includes opportunity identification, pipeline building, cold out reach through close and follow-up.
  • Sell a variety of products outside of Oishii’s primarily fresh offering, including frozen berries, jams, super premium strawberries, grab and go and food service packs
  • Sell into foodservice, specialty accounts, wedding vendors, kraft services and other non-traditional retail partners.
  • Work both directly with retailers and through distributor partners to expand Oishii’s footprint.
  • Collaborate closely with marketing team on strategic partnerships with other brands, and growing our portfolio of business with external partners
  • Manage a mix of eCommerce and brick-and-mortar sales initiatives.
  • Proactively build pipelines through outbound efforts, including cold outreach and relationship building.
  • Short, medium, and long-term strategic planning based on matching demand with supply forecasts
  • Comfortably pitch Oishii’s value proposition one-on-one with buyers, operators, and partners.
  • Move fast to test, learn, and refine approaches across new channels.
  • Support pricing strategy development across alternative channels.
  • Evaluate margin, volume, and channel dynamics to inform deal structures.
  • Navigate ambiguity—alternative channels don’t come with clear paths, and this role requires creativity and self-motivation.
  • Act as the internal owner for alternative channel growth, collaborating cross-functionally with Operations, Marketing, and Finance.
  • Self disciplined with setting goals and following through
  • Comfortable rolling up your sleeves to solve everything from how to reach 500+ independent shop owners to figuring out the best way to position and sell from a “pop-up”
