The Controller's Department is responsible for corporate-wide functional expertise in the areas of Accounting Policy, Corporate Accounting, Consolidation of Financial Results, Taxation, and Financial Reporting to the Board of Directors, Executive Committee, SEC, and FRB. We are looking for an Accounting Policy Senior Manager to support the Company in analyzing complex accounting issues, monitoring and implementing new accounting standards, and assisting and supporting the teams responsible for Financial and Regulatory Reporting in their preparation and review of reports. What you have Eight to ten years of accounting experience, including at least five years of that time in either public accounting or an accounting policy role CPA license required Extensive knowledge of US GAAP Possess creativity and a high degree of curiosity with a deep desire to develop knowledge of the company, technical accounting, and accounting processes Ability to prioritize concurrent long-term projects through demonstrated internal drive and motivation High degree of focus and self-challenge that leads to very high quality and comprehensive analyses and work product Ability to build productive relationships and work in cross-functional teams Strong oral and written communication skills demonstrated in many different forums and with various audiences Proficient in Microsoft Excel Financial services industry preferred Bachelor's degree in Accounting What you'll do: Actively engage in analyzing diverse, unclear, and challenging areas of accounting related to non-routine and/or significant transactions such as revenue recognition, impairment, leasing, business acquisition or divestitures, fair value and investment securities, consolidations, internally developed software, and stock-based compensation Perform technical accounting research and synthesize judgments or analysis in written form, obtain buy-in from stakeholders, which could include members of senior management, and implement new processes and/or policies, as needed Monitor emerging accounting standards and present updates or implications though written or oral communications to diverse audiences Engage in special projects to further initiatives within the Controller's Department and in various business units Participate in industry associations and working groups following developments in and the application of US GAAP specific to the industry Train internal teams on new or existing US GAAP topics relevant to the Company In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.
