About The Position

The Sr. Manager of Logistics provides strategic and operational leadership for all logistics, warehousing, and transportation functions. This role drives performance excellence, cost-effective operations, safety compliance, technological advancements, and superior customer service while developing high-performing teams and scaling logistics capabilities to support company growth and evolving market demands. The ideal candidate is a hands-on, data-driven leader who builds strong teams and stronger systems, while creating an environment where safety, teamwork, and ownership thrive. They lead with accountability, develop people intentionally, and are comfortable managing complex logistics systems while using data to drive decisions that balance service, cost, and risk.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field; Master’s is a plus.
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in logistics, supply chain, warehousing, or distribution, including at least 5 years in a leadership role within complex, high-volume operations.
  • Demonstrated success with budget ownership, cost optimization, and performance management.
  • Strong knowledge of logistics analytics, routing software, WMS, TMS, ERP systems, and demonstrated capability for data-driven decision making.
  • Proven vendor negotiation, contract management, and relationship experience.
  • Exceptional leadership, problem solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to influence cross-functional and senior stakeholders; adept at change management.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute logistics and supply chain strategies aligned with company goals and growth plans.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to executive leadership, offering data-driven insights to influence logistics capacity, cost, service, and growth decisions.
  • Analyze market trends, technology innovations, competitive benchmarking, and emerging practices to enhance logistics capabilities.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Operations, Purchasing, Sales, IT, Finance, and HR to ensure aligned planning and execution.
  • Provide end-to-end leadership for inbound and outbound logistics functions including warehousing, inventory control, material handling, transportation, delivery, and returns.
  • Ensure efficient flow of materials from receipt through storage, fulfillment, delivery, and reverse logistics.
  • Lead measurement and management of operational KPIs including safety, productivity, on-time delivery, inventory accuracy, cost variance, pallet building accuracy, and delivery timelines.
  • Proactively identify operational bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and risks; lead corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Manage logistics, warehouse labor, and consumable supply budgets, ensuring efficient staffing models and cost-effective scheduling.
  • Drive cost reduction initiatives through data analysis and process optimization without compromising safety or service quality.
  • Partner with Accounting to forecast and align budgeting with strategic initiatives.
  • Collaborate with procurement and asset management teams to conduct supplier bids, benchmarking, and develop multimodal freight and sourcing strategies.
  • Benchmark freight rates and sourcing options; leverage data to forecast and optimize spend.
  • Oversee company logistics assets (equipment, fleet, material handling), including selection, lifecycle management, and utilization.
  • Build and lead a high-performing logistics and warehouse team by setting clear performance expectations, coaching for growth, and supporting career development for exempt and non-exempt staff.
  • Collaborate with HR on talent planning, recruiting, performance evaluations, succession planning, and training programs.
  • Promote a culture rooted in teamwork, continuous improvement, safety, recognition, and accountability.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce scalable SOPs that improve throughput, accuracy, turnaround times, and asset recovery.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, regulatory, and operating standards (OSHA, DOT, AIB, etc.).
  • Champion safety excellence by leading regular trainings, exercising audit readiness, and administering operational compliance programs.
  • Proactively identify risks (delivery delays, damaged goods, inventory discrepancies, supplier disruptions) and deploy mitigation plans.
  • Oversee utilization of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Transportation Management Systems (TMS), ERP platforms, and logistics analytics tools.
  • Drive digital transformation initiatives including automation, tracking technologies, and performance dashboards.
