About The Position

The Senior Manager will report to the Senior Director, FR&A Lodging P&L Reporting, and be an integral member of the Marriott Financial Reporting and Analysis team. This position will lead the day-to-day reporting & analysis functions, ensuring accurate reporting of both actual operating results, forecast, and budget for the P&L processes. They will have a wide range of responsibilities supporting several key systems, reporting & accounting, and analytical activities.

Requirements

  • Eight or more years of progressive job experience in accounting/finance field.
  • Managerial experience preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to develop alternatives and solutions.
  • Strong accounting and systems skills. Must have experience with Office 365 and Microsoft Power Platform applications. Peoplesoft and Hyperion (ie. MIGL, EPM, HFM, Essbase Cubes) experience a plus.
  • Highly motivated self-starter who can work independently.
  • Strong organizational skills. Effective in prioritizing work and following through on commitments.
  • Strong communications skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to work and lead effectively in a team environment.
  • Baccalaureate degree in accounting or related field

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Marriott Lodging or other MI business preferred.
  • Peoplesoft and Hyperion (ie. MIGL, EPM, HFM, Essbase Cubes) experience a plus.
  • CPA preferred

Responsibilities

  • Oversee periodic and quarterly consolidated reporting and analysis for Marriott’s Lodging segments. Ensure all financials are properly stated in accordance with GAAP.
  • For the monthly, quarterly actuals and forecast processes, review managed and owned/leased operating results/forecast, profit & loss statements, profit bridges, statistics, and other financial, statistical, and supporting schedules.
  • Lead and oversee the preparation of actual and forecast analysis for lodging, including ensuring that year-over-year growth of fees and owned/leased results are reasonable given underlying business metrics.
  • Work with Continent Finance, Asset Management, and Corporate Financial Accounting teams to forecast, budget, and report owned/leased asset sales, purchases, and other significant contract changes and transactions.
  • Partner with FR&A balance sheet reporting team as necessary to ensure transactions are properly accounted for and stated in accordance with GAAP.
  • Coordinate, plan, and manage the annual business plan process. Includes performing analytics related to fee and owned/lease growth as well as reviewing the P&L, statistics, new units, termination, contract change assumptions, and various other financial schedules for the upcoming year.
  • Assist in producing the monthly and quarterly FR&A Continent reporting package.
  • Research and document unique accounting treatment and individual transactions, ensuring activity is properly stated in the financial statements.
  • Identify process efficiencies and updates to reporting and analytical tools with an emphasis on continuous improvement, embracing new technology.
  • Supervise, motivate, develop and train associates. Set goals and expectations for direct reports and hold staff accountable for successful performance. Coach team by providing specific feedback to improve performance. Conduct annual performance appraisal.
  • Act as the point of contact for the company’s annual audit by ensuring audit schedules are prepared, responding to auditor questions, and resolving issues.
  • Complete special reporting and analytical projects as assigned by the Senior Director, Lodging Financial Reporting and Analysis.
  • Review and approve requests received from properties and other corporate departments for system maintenance, comp set changes, combo edits, and late journal entry requests.
  • Ensure correct stakeholders are engaged in the resolution of requests and identify opportunities to streamline workflows.
  • Liaison across the finance organization in trouble-shooting issues.
  • Assist in the setup and support of new brands.
  • Serve as FR&A Lodging team point of contact. Support communication and cooperation between Global Finance process owners.
  • Participate in Global Finance Initiatives.
