Experienced laboratory professional with a background in chemical Engineering laboratories, research support, and safety oversight. Skilled in managing teaching and research laboratories, ensuring compliance with safety regulations (OSHA, EPA, EH&S), and supporting faculty, staff, and students in teaching and research activities. Adept at managing laboratory facilities, supervising personnel, maintaining instrumentation, and enabling high‐quality research and academic excellence

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 7 years of related experience
  • Demonstrated ability to oversee daily laboratory operations.
  • Knowledge of chemical safety protocols and risk management strategies within laboratory environments.
  • Comfortable providing technical expertise and research support to teams and projects.
  • Ability to perform equipment maintenance and calibration.
  • Knowledge of Procurement and Inventory Control.
  • Ability to train and supervise staff and students within laboratory environments.
  • Understanding of regulatory compliance for EHS, OSHA, and EPA guidelines.
  • Proficient in budget & resource allocation.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or related field.
  • Extensive laboratory and research experience in chemical sciences.
  • Strong knowledge of chemical safety protocols and regulatory compliance.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage laboratory staff and resources effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations of Chemical Engineering teaching and research laboratories.
  • Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot specialized laboratory and pilot‐scale equipment (e.g., reactors, heat exchangers, distillation columns, process control systems).
  • Enforce compliance with TAMU EH&S safety standards and chemical engineering best practices.
  • Supervise, mentor, and train graduate students, undergraduate assistants, and lab technicians.
  • Develop and implement laboratory Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Support faculty research projects with technical expertise, experimental setup, and data collection.
  • Manage procurement of chemicals, materials, and specialized equipment, ensuring proper storage and waste disposal.
  • Develop and maintain a general chemical inventory database for the chemicals present in the building laboratories.
  • Assist in budget preparation, grant proposals, and resource management.
  • Coordinate facility upgrades, laboratory renovations, and installation of new equipment.
  • Assist the management and allocation of graduate student office space in support of research activities.
