You are a strategic and empathetic technology leader who combines a deep understanding of IT systems with a passion for artificial intelligence, automation, and people development. Equally comfortable guiding architectural decisions and setting governance frameworks, you champion responsible AI adoption and operational excellence. As the Senior Manager, IT, Enterprise Systems, you will lead a growing team responsible for Justworks' enterprise systems, automation, and AI operations. Your leadership will drive the integration of AI and automation into IT and business workflows-enhancing productivity, improving reliability, and enabling smarter, data-informed operations. You'll oversee critical enterprise platforms spanning identity and access management (IAM), collaboration tools, and software management and governance (SMG), ensuring the business operates securely and efficiently. You understand that innovation must be balanced with governance, ensuring AI and IT initiatives align with company values, regulatory requirements, and ethical best practices. You'll partner closely with peers across Security, Data, and Engineering, fostering a culture of experimentation, transparency, and continuous improvement. Through strategic vendor partnerships, scalable systems, and automation, you'll empower Justworks employees to do their best work while reducing manual processes and improving system reliability. A passionate learner and mentor, you'll guide the next generation of AI and systems engineers toward technical and professional excellence. You'll build trusted relationships across the organization-from individual contributors to senior leadership-to identify opportunities where IT and AI can make meaningful impact.   • Work with the leadership to create IT strategy and roadmap, and lead the execution of those initiatives to improve IT maturity and achieve IT's vision, mission and objectives
  • Lead and mentor a high-performing team responsible for identity, automation, enterprise systems, and AI operations.
  • Drive the strategic direction of software management and governance (SMG), ensuring tools are evaluated, implemented, and maintained with efficiency, compliance, and cost optimization.
  • Manage the lifecycle of core SaaS and enterprise platforms such as Google Workspace, Slack, Atlassian, and other critical business systems - ensuring reliability, observability, and strong integrations.
  • Partner with Security to strengthen our identity and access management ecosystem - including Okta, SSO, MFA, SCIM, and lifecycle automation.
  • Partner with Security, Compliance, and Legal to align IT systems with SOC1/SOC2, data privacy, and regulatory standards.
  • Develop and oversee automation initiatives that streamline processes, reduce manual touchpoints, and improve the employee experience.
  • Establish and maintain AI governance and enablement frameworks, ensuring the responsible use of generative AI and automation tools across the business.
  • Provide mentorship and direction to the Senior AI Operations Engineer and related AI operations functions, ensuring alignment with IT and enterprise objectives.
  • Manage and optimize Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environments that support enterprise systems, automation pipelines, and AI-driven workflows.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Data Engineering, Product, and Security to identify opportunities where AI and automation can increase productivity and deliver measurable value.
  • Oversee vendor relationships, software renewals, and performance evaluations to ensure Justworks' technology investments are strategic, efficient, and secure.
  • Track and report key performance indicators for system availability, automation success, license utilization, and governance maturity.
  • 10+ years of IT systems or infrastructure experience
  • 5+ years managing and leading technical teams, with a preference of managing managers
  • Demonstrated expertise in building IT strategy, executing roadmaps, and managing programs across enterprise.
  • Proven success in leading IT system management, technology governance, and IT operations
  • Solid experience in automation and improving efficiencies and effectiveness of IT,
  • Expertise in identity and access management, SaaS governance, and cloud infrastructure (Google Workspace, Okta, GCP, Slack, Atlassian).
  • Experience implementing AI or automation workflows (e.g., LLM integrations, RPA, workflow orchestration, or data-driven automation).
  • Familiarity with AI governance, model lifecycle management, and compliance frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of SOC1/SOC2, data privacy, and responsible AI principles.
  • Hands-on experience with automation and integration tools (e.g., Okta Workflows, APIs, BetterCloud, Torq, Zapier for Enterprise).
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience influencing technical and executive audiences.
  • Certifications such as GCP Cloud Architect, Okta Certified Professional, or relevant AI/ML certifications are highly valued.
