Job Summary The Senior Manager, Indirect Tax – M&A Integrations & Incentives serves as a technical indirect tax lead responsible for managing complex multi‑state tax activities across M&A transactions, US Oncology Network (USON) practice‑management onboarding, and state & local credits, incentives, and exemptions. This role partners closely with Corporate Tax, Legal, Finance, and Operations to evaluate risk, guide transaction structure, and ensure seamless post‑close integration into McKesson’s systems and processes. The Senior Manager also acts as the primary indirect tax point‑of‑contact for USON businesses while supporting incentive‑related advisory, reviews, and compliance tracking.

Requirements

  • Key Skills Demonstrated expertise in multi‑state sales & use tax, nexus analysis, registration and compliance, and business license requirements.
  • Strong experience in due diligence, risk assessment, and integration project management.
  • Advanced Excel skills and proven ability to analyze large datasets and draw conclusions.
  • Exceptional communication skills with experience presenting to leadership.
  • Required Degree or equivalent and typically requires 10+ years of relevant experience. Less years required if has relevant Master’s, Doctorate, or CPA qualifications.
  • 7–10+ years of indirect tax, M&A, or transaction‑related experience (corporate or consulting).

  • CPA, CMI, MST, or other relevant certifications.
  • Experience in healthcare, distribution, or practice‑management environments.
  • Exposure to credit & incentives, exemptions, and refund claim processes.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (SAP, JDE, PeopleSoft) and indirect tax tools.

Responsibilities

  • M&A Due Diligence & Post‑Close Integrations (Primary Workstream) Lead indirect tax due diligence for acquisitions, affiliations, and divestitures. Identify sales & use tax, business license, unclaimed property, and nexus‑related risks and exposures. Analyze transaction data to quantify liabilities and prepare due diligence reports. Advise Corporate Tax and M&A teams on: Taxability of transaction structures Revenue flows, entity setup, registrations Nexus creation and operational compliance risks Serve as an Integration Project Manager, collaborating with Indirect Tax SMEs to ensure: Sales & use tax and business license registrations are completed ERP tax configuration and exemption management are implemented Unclaimed property processes are incorporated Fixed asset and property‑tax data are collected and transitioned Oversee the onboarding timeline until operational compliance is established (filings cadence, data flow, handoff to operations).
  • McKesson’s U.S. Oncology & Practice‑Management Onboarding Act as the Indirect Tax POC for the Oncology practice network and similar practice‑management businesses. Coordinate indirect tax workstreams for new medical practice affiliations, including: Sales & use tax and business license compliance Unclaimed property requirements Registration tracking, onboarding, and process integration Provide indirect tax advisory to support ongoing operational needs, issue resolution, and compliance reviews.
  • Credits, Incentives & Exemption Support Lead or support state & local credits, incentives, exemptions, including: Advisory support on sales tax incentive requirements (exemption certificates, invoice language, documentation). Reviewing refund claims, incentive reports, and supporting documentation prepared by business partners. Submitting reviewed filings to jurisdictions when required. Support property tax incentive reporting and calendaring in partnership with the Property Tax SME. Identify and elevate opportunities for tax savings, credits, refunds, or incentive optimization across projects and expansions.
  • Additional Responsibilities Support audit defense for pre‑ and post‑transaction periods; manage documentation, analyses, and technical tax positions. Present findings, risks, and recommendations to senior leadership and cross‑functional stakeholders. Contribute to process improvement, operational efficiency, and best‑practice development within Indirect Tax. Perform other projects as assigned.
