About The Position

The Global Strategic Sourcing and Procurement Senior Manager will be responsible for planning, organizing and directing Altas’ Supply Chain related activities. The position will direct all strategic sourcing activities related to the procurement of a commodity from intent through delivery. The role will also schedule, coordinate, and closely monitor all production activity for the manufacturing team and optimize the inventory control processes.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field is required; an advanced degree is preferred.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, materials management, production planning, or a combination of these in an equipment or heavy industry environment.
Experience in a global, multi-site organization is preferred.
Sourcing/Procurement/Quality certification such as CPM, CPIM, CIRM, CQE preferred.
Practical knowledge of leading-edge procurement strategies and the business planning process; demonstrated ability to develop strategy, and successfully execute business plans.
Strong analytical skills including benchmarking, data collection and trend analysis.
Drive for continuous process and productivity improvement with experience in six sigma and lean initiatives.
Demonstrated success managing global spend in excess of $20M in support of multiple manufacturing and service nodes.
History of developing programs to deliver annual material savings above inflation, with a focus on leveraging low-cost regions.
Experienced leading supply chain development, supplier negotiations and cultivating successful relationships with internal and external customers.
Expertise in identifying and developing new suppliers to advance cost reduction and new product introduction cycle time initiatives.
Proven track record as a champion of change management in procurement programs and business process re-engineering.
Excellent leadership, collaboration, and communications skills. Proven ability to lead, influence and motivate others.
Demonstrated history of driving teams, processes, and facilitating improved performance.
Strong understanding of ERP systems and their operation. Prior experience leading ERP implementation projects highly desired.
Strong business acumen and a bias for action.
Position will require significant hands-on effort and team engagement.

Responsibilities

Develop organizational strategy, practices, processes and metrics that will provide the company with a world class purchasing and production planning organization.
Effectively lead, hire, develop and enable the Procurement Organization to achieve strategic objectives in a continuous improvement environment.
Analyze, develop and maintain a consolidated supplier base to meet current and future needs of all purchased materials and services.
Manage and facilitate all facets of the procurement activities including vendor evaluations, site audits and continuous improvement process for all suppliers.
Understand and monitor key spending trends, cost drivers, market factors, geographic considerations, and strategic importance of critical commodities in order to implement appropriate sourcing strategies.
Develop metrics, including external benchmarks, to monitor performance and allow for data driven decision making. Ensure that metrics, including benchmark data, and performance measurements are directly tied in and support the corporate objectives and performance indicators.
Directly responsible and accountable for material spend/cost reduction, supplier performance, and inventory.
Partner and collaborate with other functions to support strategic goals for sourcing materials, equipment, and/or services.
Ensure ethical principles and standards of purchasing practices.
Develop, monitor and control departmental operating and capital budgets.
Ensure department and purchasing practices comply with all applicable safely, regulatory and quality system requirements.
Drive continuous improvement in all aspects of the procurement process by means of appropriate tools such as Lean Six Sigma.
Create/manage business unit processes around supplier contracts, supplier qualification, and engineering change approval process.
Stay informed on Best Practice, current / future policies and procedures, regulatory / trade requirements, and market dynamics appropriate to function.
