The Senior Manager, Global Payroll leads the payroll team and scales payroll operations across US multi-state and international locations. This role ensures accurate and compliant payroll processing, strengthens controls, drives automation, and partners closely with HR, Finance, Legal, and global payroll vendors. The leader will guide a high-performing team, support audits and month-end close, and build scalable processes in a fast-growing environment. This is an onsite position in our Overland Park, KS headquarters.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, HR, or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of progressive payroll experience, including multi-state US payroll.
  • 3+ years of people leadership in a high-growth environment.
  • Experience managing international payroll and working with in-country providers or global aggregators.
  • Strong payroll compliance and taxation knowledge.
  • Proven ability to partner cross-functionally and influence stakeholders.
  • High attention to detail, strong reconciliation skills, and ability to manage shifting priorities.
  • High integrity with confidential data.
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to explain payroll concepts clearly to employees and business partners.
  • Advanced spreadsheet and payroll/HRIS system experience

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end US and international payroll processing with accuracy, timeliness, and strong employee experience.
  • Ensure payroll compliance across all jurisdictions, including taxes, filings, and statutory reporting.
  • Build and maintain payroll controls, reconciliations, documentation, and audit readiness.
  • Manage US and international payroll vendors, service levels, and issue resolution.
  • Own payroll system administration (earnings, deductions, benefits integrations).
  • Partner with HR, Finance, and Accounting on month-end/year-end close, (accruals, reconciliations, W-2/1099 where applicable, and local equivalents), providing reporting and analytics to leadership team.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the payroll team; establish scalable processes and cross-training.
  • Drive process improvements, automation, and system optimization across payroll and HRIS.
  • Provide high-growth leadership by setting team direction and success metrics, prioritizing competing demands, and leading change through clear communication, stakeholder alignment, and hands-on problem solving.
  • Oversee payroll inputs (variable pay, commissions, bonuses, benefits, garnishments, PTO).
