About The Position

The Senior Manager, Global Market Research (GMR) develops and delivers a program of high-impact research and insights that support and shape Capital Group’s business priorities. Operating at a senior level, this leader guides direct reports to produce rigorous, actionable, and business-aligned research that enhances decision-making, deepens client relationships, and strengthens Capital Group’s strategic positioning. This leader works across Capital Group’s range of business units with a particular focus on supporting strategic initiatives for the firm. They ensure that research capabilities provide added value for clients and a core driver of Capital Group’s competitive advantage. Success in this role is measured by the strategic impact of delivered insights, effectiveness in leading and developing a high-performing research team, and the ability to shape business decisions through compelling storytelling and analytical excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Alignment & Business Acumen Define and drive a multi-year research agenda aligned to North America Client Group (NACG) strategic priorities. Anticipate and analyze industry trends, competitive dynamics, and client needs to shape the research program. Act as a strategic advisor to senior leaders, ensuring insights inform enterprise decision-making and client engagement strategies. Ensure research priorities and outputs are grounded in business understanding to influence decisions at Director level and above.
  • Thought Leadership & Consulting Develop and deliver internal and external thought leadership that positions Capital Group as a trusted voice on key themes shaping the asset management industry. Translate research findings into compelling narratives that deepen client relationships and reinforce Capital Group’s differentiation. Partner with internal and external stakeholders to ensure research findings are effectively leveraged in client discussions, industry forums, and NACG initiatives.
  • Team Leadership & Development Lead, coach, and develop a team of researchers, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and innovation. Balance workloads and resources across multiple projects to ensure timely, high-quality delivery. Model Leading Capital behaviors, fostering growth in business acumen, consulting skills, and research expertise. Develop ongoing learning and skill-building programs to enhance team capabilities in research fundamentals, business understanding, and client engagement.
  • Deliverables & Communication Deliver persuasive insights that influence and guide senior decision-makers and demonstrate ability to communicate effectively to both internal and external audiences. Ensure research outputs are clear, compelling, and strategically relevant, with implications tailored to senior audiences. Oversee the quality and consistency of outputs across the team to ensure credibility, precision, and usability.
  • Research & Innovation Maintain excellence in research design, analysis, and synthesis, ensuring methodological rigor and consistency. Integrate both traditional and innovative techniques, scaling and integrating AI approaches across the team or research portfolio. Monitor and incorporate emerging industry trends, regulatory developments, and macroeconomic factors into ongoing research. Drive continuous improvement in research processes and methodologies to enhance quality and timeliness.
  • Represent Capital Group externally by presenting research at conferences, client events, and strategic partner meetings. Demonstrate strong stage presence and the ability to communicate research findings confidently to external audiences. Develop thematic research that positions Capital Group as a thought leader in asset management. Partner directly with senior executives to influence enterprise strategies and external market positioning. Drive operational excellence through proactive business alignment and continuous refinement of research processes. Focus on actionable insights that directly shape go-to-market strategy and organizational effectiveness.
