About The Position

The Role We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Special Situations Coordinator to support the coordination and execution of corporate actions across our High Yield and Private Equity investment teams. This role acts as a critical bridge between front-office investment professionals and operations, ensuring seamless communication, timely processing, and accurate reconciliation of complex corporate action events. You will serve as the central point of contact for special situations involving restructurings, tenders, exchanges, conversions, recapitalizations, and private placements. The role involves daily coordination with investment teams, brokers, custodians, and legal teams to manage time-sensitive and often nuanced transactions. The Team This team is responsible for all aspects of corporate action research and processing for assets across the approximately $2 trillion worth of assets under management, including actions cumulatively affecting securities worth in excess of $1 billion at a given time. The Global Middle Office acts as a servicing center for FMR Co.'s trading desks globally, facilitating the confirmation and settlement of security and currency transactions with brokers and custodian banks, and providing daily cash estimates to Trading. It is also responsible for coordinating corporate action executions, ensuring the collection of income to the Funds, resolving position differences and facilitating securities lending activities.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of financial services experience with an asset manager or custodian bank, preferably in mutual fund operations with exposure to Corporate Actions
  • 5+ years of experience in investment operations, corporate actions, or related functions
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills to effectively coordinate with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Sharp judgment and proven ability to logically identify, isolate and resolve problems
  • Ability to manage multiple complex events simultaneously with strong organizational and prioritization skills
  • Attention to detail and a strong sense of accountability in managing high-value events
  • High level of initiative and ability to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Working knowledge of downstream impacts, workflows and requirements of internal and external business partners and systems applications
  • In-depth understanding of the workings of the corporate actions, custody, accounting and the investment operations industry
  • Detailed knowledge of corporate action event processing including fund manager solicitation, accounting, tax implications, regulatory conditions, financial impact of transactions, trading implications, global and domestic processing standards and overall life of a corporate action event
  • Strong knowledge of all product types including but not limited to stocks, bonds, options, warrants, and rights through public and private deals
  • Work closely with peers in Fund Accounting and Pricing to ensure urgent Corporate Actions related issues are resolved timely

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with High Yield and/or Private Equity investment structures and workflows strongly preferred
