About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Actuary to join our Property and Casualty (P&C) team. As an experienced Actuary, you will play a critical role in supporting the analysis and decision-making process for our P&C insurance products; and perform periodic actuarial analysis for the company's Group Health, Property and Casualty programs. Your expertise will help us to accurately assess and manage risk, optimize pricing, and drive business growth. The Senior Manager - Actuary, reports directly to the Finance Director of Risk & Benefits with a mission to provide recommendations and support to leadership in the Property and Casualty space. This is a heavily matrixed environment with daily interactions with Claims, Legal, Finance, and Controllership functions.

Requirements

  • Robust knowledge of and experience with actuarial methods
  • Strong communication skills to explain actuarial results
  • ACAS or higher certification or in pursuit of accreditation
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience working as an actuary, with progress made toward the completion of actuarial certification exams
  • Prior supervisory experience is preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field and 4 years' experience in accounting, finance, or related area OR 6 years' experience in accounting, finance, or related area
  • 1 year's experience leading and completing cross-functional projects
  • 1 year's supervisory experience

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and interpret complex data to inform business decisions, including loss ratios, claim frequencies, and severity of losses
  • Develop tactical and executive-level insights from the analysis and develop recommended actions for senior leaders in Finance, Risk Management, Tort Legal and Total Rewards
  • Develop and maintain actuarial models to estimate losses, including catastrophe models and regression analysis
  • Conduct sensitivity analysis and scenario planning to assess the impact of changing market conditions and regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Claims, Safety, Legal, and Finance to develop and refine P&C products
  • Provide actuarial support for product development, pricing, and reserving
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging risks to ensure our P&C products remain competitive and compliant
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external stakeholders
