As Senior Manager, Environmental Diligence and Compliance you will be responsible for assisting with aspects of the company’s environmental initiatives including working with internal partners, third party vendors and environmental counsel to achieve company objectives. This position will report directly to the Vice President, Environmental Diligence and Compliance Manager.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, or related.
  • Five to eight years of experience in environmental compliance and/or due diligence, preferably in the real estate, lending or construction industry.
  • Experience working with Excel, SharePoint and Smartsheet applications.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations, including but not limited to UST, NEPA, CERCLA, Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, and RCRA.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental regulations, including ASTM standards and state-specific requirements for environmental site assessments.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate complex environmental concepts to diverse audiences.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional certifications such as Certified Environmental Professional (CEP), Environmental Risk Manager (ERM) or Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) are preferred.
  • Experience working with environmental management systems (EMS) and conducting environmental audits.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee third party vendors in conducting environmental due diligence assessments for real estate transactions, including Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) and Phase II subsurface investigations.
  • Review and summarize ESA reports.
  • Maintain property inventory spreadsheets and site activities.
  • Working with real estate inventory platforms.
  • Review historical land use records, regulatory agency databases, and environmental reports to identify potential environmental risks and liabilities for Link’s existing portfolio and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with internal departments (Asset Management, Transactions, Investments, Legal, Debt Capital Markets, etc.) to ensure environmental compliance efforts.
  • Oversee field investigations, including soil and groundwater sampling, vapor intrusion assessments, and asbestos surveys, as needed.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance on environmental issues throughout the due diligence process, including regulatory compliance, remediation requirements, and potential impacts on project timelines and costs.
  • Support ongoing compliance monitoring and environmental management efforts for existing properties, as necessary.
  • Investigate and respond to environmental incidents, complaints, and enforcement actions, and implement corrective actions, as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.
