About The Position

LS Power is seeking a Senior Manager, Electrical Engineering & Interconnection to join our San Diego, CA-based team. Remote candidates will be considered, with the expectation of periodic travel to the San Diego office for in-person collaboration. This role is responsible for overseeing system-level electrical design and interconnection strategy across LS Power’s portfolio of power generation, energy storage, and hybrid infrastructure projects. You will manage conceptual design, consultant oversight, permitting, and interface with transmission providers to ensure timely and robust interconnection execution. The role spans all major ISO/RTO markets (e.g., CAISO, PJM, ERCOT, MISO, NYISO) as well as non-regulated utilities. You will serve as the primary point of contact for both internal stakeholders and external transmission providers, translating complex study results and system plans into actionable commercial and technical deliverables. The ideal candidate brings deep transmission engineering experience, power flow modeling proficiency, and the ability to proactively manage regulatory and execution risks across a dynamic project portfolio.

Requirements

  • Hold a BS in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline
  • Bring 10+ years of experience managing interconnection processes across ISO/RTO and bilateral markets
  • Have 10+ years of experience designing or technically managing transmission infrastructure
  • Possess a strong understanding of ISO/RTO planning processes, transmission study methodologies, and interconnection timelines, including experience with non-regulated, municipal, or cooperative utilities
  • Are proficient with power flow analysis tools such as PSS/E, PSLF, or PowerWorld
  • Are effective at negotiating utility and ISO agreements and navigating complex regulatory environments
  • Communicate clearly and collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Demonstrate strong organizational, modeling, and technical writing skills
  • Are able to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines across diverse geographies and technologies

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working across multiple markets, including CAISO, PJM, ERCOT, MISO, and NYISO
  • A PE license or advanced degree (preferred, but not required)

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and manage conceptual electrical designs, interconnection applications, modifications, and technical study submittals.
  • Coordinate with System Integration, Procurement, and Development teams on electrical system modeling, equipment selection, and execution planning.
  • Provide technical leadership in aligning design strategies with project requirements and commercial constraints.
  • Support project development activities by providing cost, schedule, and risk inputs.
  • Collaborate with Legal, Development, Finance, and Project Delivery teams to align permitting, interconnection and execution planning.
  • Lead development of interconnection strategies across multiple ISOs/RTOs and utilities.
  • Prepare and submit interconnection applications, modifications, and technical study packages.
  • Manage feasibility, system impact, and facility study processes and ensure accurate assumptions.
  • Analyze interconnection results and translate technical outcomes into commercial implications.
  • Serve as the primary technical and commercial liaison with ISO/RTOs, utilities, engineers and consultants.
  • Negotiate Interconnection Agreements, Engineering & Procurement Agreements, and related utility contracts.
  • Track interconnection queue positions, milestones, deliverables, and financial obligations.
  • Monitor regulatory and market developments related to interconnection and transmission access.
  • Support financing, diligence, and investment approvals with interconnection-related inputs.
