About The Position

The Senior Manager, Electrical Engineering serves as the enterprise subject matter expert for electrical power distribution, lighting systems, and related infrastructure across Walmart’s building portfolio. This role owns electrical prototypes, specifications, and engineering standards, ensuring alignment with company requirements for safety, reliability, cost efficiency, and sustainability. The Senior Manager acts as a central point of coordination across internal stakeholders and external Engineers of Record (EORs) to deliver consistent, code‑compliant, and operationally effective electrical designs across new store, remodel, and special project initiatives. This role requires the ability to manage multiple initiatives concurrently while maintaining strong governance, documentation, and executive visibility. What you'll do... · Own and manage electrical power and lighting prototypes, specifications, and technical guidance for enterprise use · Continuously improve electrical engineering standards and design criteria, incorporating approved change initiatives into prototype documentation · Review architectural and engineering documents to ensure compliance with approved design intent, enterprise standards, and regulatory requirements · Serve as the technical authority for power distribution and lighting systems, providing guidance for both prototypical and non‑prototypical designs · Partner cross‑functionally with Construction, Facilities, Energy, Sustainability, Operations, and Finance teams to align on design changes, cost impacts, and implementation timing · Present technical recommendations and change initiatives to executive leadership as required · Direct and influence external Engineers of Record (EORs) and engineering consultants to ensure compliance with Walmart standards and project objectives · Evaluate prospective electrical consultants and support Engineering Consultant Collectives, including performance improvement actions when needed · Leverage metrics and performance data to monitor and improve consultant quality, responsiveness, and cost effectiveness · Oversee engineering budgets and consultant invoices associated with electrical deliverables · Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local codes, including NEC and NFPA standards · Provide oversight for arc‑flash analysis, generator systems, PV, EV infrastructure, and other emerging electrical technologies · Support enterprise resiliency strategies, including backup power, power quality, and grid coordination · Identify innovation and lifecycle cost optimization opportunities to support sustainability,

Requirements

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)
  • Extensive experience developing and managing electrical prototypes and large‑scale commercial design programs
  • Strong technical knowledge of power distribution, lighting systems, generators, PV, EV infrastructure, arc‑flash analysis, and electrical code compliance
  • Ability to clearly articulate and defend technical design decisions to executive and cross‑functional audiences
  • Demonstrated success operating in fast‑paced, highly matrixed environments, managing multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Proven ability to build strong partnerships with internal stakeholders and external consultants to remove barriers and drive results
  • Experience leveraging business metrics and data to improve consultant and program performance
  • Strong organizational discipline, judgment, and accountability
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field and 3 years’ experience in engineering, electrical work, or a related area OR 5 years’ experience in engineering, electrical work, or a related area
