The Senior Manager of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) leads the EHS team at Adams Group, Inc., supporting Adams Trucking (ATI), Adams Grain Company (AGC), and Adams Vegetable Oils (AVO). This role reports directly to the Senior Director of Operations and is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing EHS programs across multiple sites to ensure compliance, drive continuous improvement, and foster a proactive safety culture. The ideal candidate is a safety leader with a strong operations background who can integrate safety into production efficiency, employee development, and sustainable business practices.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive EHS, operations, or production leadership experience, with demonstrated responsibility across multiple manufacturing or industrial sites (food manufacturing or processing preferred).
  • Proven experience leading complex incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action programs.
  • Strong experience with environmental compliance programs, including air permitting, spill prevention, wastewater, and hazardous/non-hazardous waste management.
  • Expert knowledge of OSHA 1910 General Industry standards and their practical application across multiple facilities.
  • Demonstrated success building standardized EHS systems while allowing flexibility for site-specific operational needs.
  • Strong leadership and influencing skills with the ability to engage executives, plant leadership, supervisors, and frontline employees.
  • Highly effective communicator capable of delivering executive-level updates, site leadership coaching, and professional written documentation.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret trends, benchmark performance, and drive enterprise-level improvement.
  • Valid driver’s license – Required (ability to travel regularly between sites)
  • OSHA 30-Hour General Industry Certification – Required
  • CSP, ASP, CIH, and/or Lean Six Sigma Green Belt/Black Belt – Strongly Preferred

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Operations Management, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Direct experience leading or sustaining OSHA VPP/Flagship programs across multiple facilities.
  • Strong background in Lean, Six Sigma, TPM, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic, multi-site leadership to establish and sustain a proactive, high-performance safety culture across all assigned facilities; serve as a key advisor to senior operations and executive leadership.
  • Develop, standardize, and deploy EHS programs, policies, and management systems that are scalable, practical, and aligned with operational realities across diverse sites.
  • Lead and govern near-miss reporting, hazard identification, and corrective action management across locations; ensure consistency, accountability, and timely resolution.
  • Facilitate and oversee Kaizen events, root cause analyses, and standard work development at multiple sites, driving continuous improvement in safety and operational performance.
  • Design, implement, and oversee multi-site safety training strategies, including skills-based training, competency validation, and leadership development programs.
  • Provide oversight and quality assurance for incident investigations, regulatory reporting, and New Hire Orientation (NHO) processes across facilities in partnership with site EHS teams.
  • Establish governance and oversight for site Safety Committees and emergency response teams, including AVO/AGC Rescue and Confined Space Teams, ensuring preparedness and engagement across locations.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a geographically dispersed EHS team; conduct performance reviews, talent development, succession planning, and workload prioritization.
  • Direct enterprise-wide emergency preparedness, crisis management, and business continuity efforts, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and corporate standards.
  • Partner with Operations Directors and site leadership to guide multiple facilities toward OSHA VPP/Flagship participation and long-term program sustainability.
  • Collaborate with Operations and HR leadership to manage workers’ compensation, injury management, and return-to-work programs across all assigned sites.
  • Develop, manage, and oversee the multi-site EHS budget; track KPIs, trends, and performance metrics to drive data-informed decisions.
  • Lead audits, compliance assessments, and management reviews to ensure consistent regulatory compliance and continuous improvement across facilities.
  • Drive execution of EHS initiatives through a distributed team of specialists, analysts, coordinators, and administrative support.
  • Support enterprise initiatives and cross-functional projects impacting operations, culture, and risk management, as assigned.
