About The Position

You will design, develop, and implement advanced optimization models to solve complex problems across Walmart's Middle Mile Supply Chain, collaborating closely with business stakeholders to translate their needs into effective mathematical solutions. Your work will directly impact network design, inventory placement, and operational planning to drive business value and efficiency. What you'll do... Responsibilities · Work on challenging optimization models that impact the entire Walmart Middle Mile Supply Chain. This includes ideation, design, and implementation of the model to solve challenging problems faced by our stakeholders. · Interface with our business stakeholders and executives regularly to understand their requirements and translate business requirements into mathematical models. Ability to work with fuzzy and dynamic requirements. · Demonstrate a high degree of originality and creativity when developing solutions to improve existing business processes within supply chain, utilizing methods such as metaheuristics, and optimization. · Ability to explain and convince stakeholders and executives about the approach adopted to drive business impact and stakeholder value. ·. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision You will thrive in this role if you: Enjoy working independently to manage multiple projects while ensuring deadlines are met and data output is accurate and appropriate for the business. Can deal with ambiguity and make independent decisions about what data and approach is best for the task at hand. Excel in communicating with individuals and groups at all levels of an organization. Potential projects include: Create models to analyze the E-commerce Middle Mile network needed to support future sales growth with scenario modeling capabilities to understand the sensitivity to multiple variables; opening, closing, or repurposing sort centers and stores; execute multiple model runs to understand the impact of inventory placement and facility location on cost-to-serve and customer service levels. Develop models to design the inbound network from our suppliers to the fulfillment centers; evaluate the impact of various facility location strategies on stock-out probabilities and transportation costs and speed. Develop optimization models to determine the annual operating plan for Walmart E-commerce middle mile network; derive the optimal scheduling of sort-centers and store openings;

Requirements

  • Option 1: Bachelors degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 5 years' experience in an analytics related field.
  • Option 2: Masters degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 3 years' experience in an analytics related field.
  • Option 3: 7 years' experience in an analytics or related field.
