About The Position

The purpose of the Senior Cost Accounting Manager position is to coordinate and direct the activities of the team responsible for maintaining accurate and complete standard costing information for all of the Company’s inventory items. The Senior Cost Accounting Manager is also responsible for establishing the objectives and work plans of the team in supporting the Company’s business units and operations teams with key metrics and analysis to evaluate the performance and return on existing and proposed projects. Timely, accurate and complete costing information and performance measures are vital to support the team’s mission to provide information and analysis to all of the Company’s stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution required.
  • 10 years of cost accounting, financial analysis experience required.
  • Ability to manage standard or activity based accounting systems
  • Experience with coordinating inventory and costing system interface to general ledger and financial reports.
  • Ability to perform detailed tasks with accuracy.
  • Extensive skills with office productivity spreadsheet software including macros, lookup functions and graphing
  • Working knowledge of windows based office productivity tools including word processor and graphical presentation programs

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate standard costing system with Operations Employees in creation of standards for new products, adjustment of current standards, evaluate and report manufacturing variances, and research any significant manufacturing standard or expense variances as well as recommend/implement corrections and/or solutions.
  • Coordinate the monitoring of the interface to general ledger for inventory related transactions.
  • Coordinate the timely preparation and analysis of periodic inventory reports, variance reports and manufacturing production reports. Organize and oversee monthly meetings to review variances and COGS improvement opportunities with Operations Team.
  • Coordinate the preparation and review of periodic inventory reports, variance reports and manufacturing production reports.
  • Create and oversee work plans to identify root causes of costing inaccuracies, recommend corrective actions, ensure up-to-date, accurate Cost Standards and analyze Product Line profitability and Cost Trends, while strategically identifying and recommending profitability improvement initiatives.
  • Lead the Cost Management team with representatives from operations, design engineering, manufacturing engineering and marketing in order to evaluate profitability and cost improvements.
  • Oversee and review the completion of monthly inventory system detail to general ledger inventory account reconciliation
  • Oversee and review the completion and reconciliation of inventory counts with Customer Operations team and any accounting adjustments related to accounts.
  • Assist Accounting Team with financial reporting and period end general ledger reconciliation
  • Assist the Corporate Controller with ensuring that the appropriate internal controls over inventory and costing are properly designed and operating effectively.
  • Know and apply the Quality System and any appropriate Federal and International standards
  • Other responsibilities of the Accounting & Finance Teams, as necessary.
