About The Position

CHS Inc. is a leading global agribusiness owned by farmers, ranchers and cooperatives across the United States. CHS is seeking a Senior Manager, Continuous Improvement within its finance organization to drive operational excellence, process transformation, and project governance. This role involves leading the adoption of Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to improve financial processes, increase efficiency, and enable scalable growth. Additionally, the Senior Manager will provide Program Management Office (PMO) leadership for Finance initiatives, ensuring strong project governance, prioritization, and execution. The position leads a small team of continuous improvement specialists, offering coaching, direction, and development for finance transformation initiatives. The Senior Manager will also act as a finance representative in enterprise-wide transformation efforts, collaborating with leaders across IT, Operations, Supply Chain, and Commercial teams to integrate finance requirements into cross-functional process improvements. Qualified candidates must reside in the Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN metro area to work a hybrid schedule (a minimum of 3-days per week) at the corporate office in Inver Grove Heights, MN.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma (or equivalent)
  • 5+ years of experience directly leading continuous improvement initiatives including portfolio management, cross-functional influence, and delivery of strategic results
  • People leadership experience, including developing and managing teams with proven success leading through change, managing competing priorities, and partnering effectively across multiple business groups
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or job related field
  • Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or Black Belt)
  • Experience leading Lean and Six-Sigma initiatives and projects
  • Prior experience leading or developing teams in continuous improvement, operational excellence, or PMO environments
  • Experience leading finance transformation or finance PMO functions
  • Strong project and program management experience
  • Experience working in Finance organizations or shared services environments
  • Knowledge of ERP systems such as SAP or S/4HANA
  • Experience working in agriculture, energy, commodities, or large enterprise environments

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the Finance Continuous Improvement roadmap aligned with CHS strategic priorities and finance transformation objectives.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce cycle times, and eliminate non-value-added activities across core finance processes.
  • Drive process improvement across shared services operations, record-to-report, procure-to-pay, order-to-cash, and FP&A.
  • Partner with finance leadership to prioritize initiatives that deliver measurable operational and financial value.
  • Lead Lean Six Sigma improvement initiatives using methodologies such as DMAIC, Kaizen, and value stream mapping.
  • Identify root causes of process inefficiencies and implement sustainable improvements.
  • Coach and mentor finance team members on Lean and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Grow best practices and standards for structured problem solving within the Finance organization.
  • Lead the Finance Project Management Office (PMO) to support execution of finance transformation initiatives.
  • Lead project governance, standards, and reporting for the Finance project portfolio.
  • Oversee prioritization, planning, and execution of finance projects aligned with strategic objectives.
  • Provide visibility to Finance leadership through portfolio reporting, dashboards, and executive updates.
  • Track project progress, risks, dependencies, and financial benefits realization.
  • Represent the Finance organization in enterprise-wide transformation and process initiatives.
  • Partner with cross-functional leaders across operations, supply chain, IT, and commercial teams.
  • Participate in large-scale initiatives such as ERP transformation, automation, and enterprise data initiatives.
  • Ensure finance requirements, controls, and reporting needs are embedded in cross-functional process changes.
  • Lead and develop a small team of continuous improvement supporting Finance transformation initiatives.
  • Provide coaching, mentorship, and performance management to ensure strong delivery of improvement and project outcomes.
  • Build team capabilities in Lean Six Sigma, project management, and structured problem solving.
  • Assign resources across finance transformation initiatives and ensure alignment with Finance strategic priorities.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and accountability within the team.
  • Define KPIs to measure operational performance and improvement outcomes.
  • Track and report value delivered from improvement initiatives including cost savings and productivity improvements.
  • Establish governance structures to ensure accountability across the finance project portfolio.
