About The Position

The Clinical Strategic Sourcing Senior Manager develops and manages end-to-end process of source-to-contract for clinical spend categories in a healthcare setting, optimizing clinical spend across the health system. This role conducts market and landscape analyses, evaluates supplier capabilities, and manages vendor relationships from initial item evaluation through long-term strategic partnership modeling. The Senior Manager ensures best value for goods and services through strong negotiations, contracting oversight, and performance management in alignment with Joint Commission, Department of Health, CMS, and all applicable federal and state regulatory requirements. The role advances organizational goals by implementing data-driven sourcing strategies, improving process performance, and achieving validated cost, quality, and service outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Healthcare Administration, Finance, or related field.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience in strategic sourcing, vendor management, vendor selection, vendor performance management, and contract management, preferably in life sciences, pharmaceuticals, or healthcare provider environments.
  • Knowledgeable in supply chain management, ERP and EMR systems, contract management software, services contracting, accounting principles, cost analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and market and supplier research.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, ERP supply chain information systems, contract management software, and EDI/GHX platforms.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) or Master of Health Administration (MHA).
  • Professional certifications such as CPSM, CSCP, or PMP preferred. Experience leading sourcing teams in a hospital or integrated health system environment is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes business needs and documents functional and technical requirements, integrating regulatory compliance, vendor performance, and strategic sourcing objectives. Develops communication strategies, assesses project feasibility, and ensures alignment with departmental goals. Prepares detailed status and KPI reports, maintains project deliverables with clear completion criteria, and monitors adherence to protocols.
  • Plans, schedules and manages quarterly or bi-annual vendor performance review meetings including end user departments with high spend, strategic vendors by establishing a defined agenda and making sure all actions are thoroughly followed up.
  • Builds and maintains collaborative relationships across the system, engaging stakeholders from clinical, operational, and support functions to ensure successful project execution.
  • Supports business activities by developing and maintaining project models, solutions, and sourcing strategies, leveraging data analysis, market research, price benchmarking, and TCO evaluations to drive operational and strategic improvements.
  • Manages performance improvement plans, establishes best practices, identifies critical path issues, and implements corrective actions to ensure continuous process optimization.
  • Serves as an operational resource for internal teams, facilitating problem resolution, providing timely updates, and ensuring project milestones and deadlines are met.
  • Supports quality assurance by maintaining business operations and project-specific documents (e.g., SOPs, work plans, training guides), ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Provides structured status updates to stakeholders and management using agreed RACI frameworks for transparency and accountability.
  • Coaches team members on effective vendor negotiation, contract management, and performance strategies to achieve optimal results.
  • Ensures completion of Financial Impact Analyses (FIA) for all negotiations, implements strategic pricing approaches, and achieves at least minimum-to-get outcomes from vendors.
  • Defines and monitors performance metrics for sourcing and contracting activities, reviews and reports savings results, manages performance improvements, and oversees project closure.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned, including proactive identification of cost-saving opportunities, process enhancements, and strategic sourcing initiatives.
