About The Position

The Senior Manager Capital Projects will be responsible for overseeing New York and Chicago market general capital and construction projects with focus on the MSG owned Theatres (Radio City Music Hall, Beacon Theatre and The Chicago Theatre). This position will facilitate new projects and builds. The Senior Manager Capital Projects will work with project specifications, budgetary allotments, contractors, architects, consulting engineers and inhouse resources. Key duties of this role include: project management, budget, scope, cost controls, schedule, quality controls and oversight for assigned projects. This position will report into the Senior Director Capital Projects.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7-10 years’ experience in construction/project management/building infrastructure. Candidates must have proven, demonstratable MEP background.
  • Four-year degree in Engineering, Construction Management or an equivalent combination of education and experience is strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of union Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA)
  • Extensive knowledge of principles, policies and practices relating to construction projects with a solid track record of delivering projects on time and on budget
  • Familiar with state and city building codes as well as public assembly permits
  • Excellent verbal & written communication, organizational and time management skills required
  • Must be able to multi-task and prioritize in a deadline-oriented environment with the ability to manage multiple projects at one time.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD (read, create & modify drawings)
  • PC skills including MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Proven track record of strong financial project management skills
  • Possess exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical, problem solving and follow-up skills necessary
  • Must have the ability to work independently when necessary, and use sound business judgment
  • Problem solving, reasoning, motivational and organizational abilities are used often
  • Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while managing multiple tasks.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule to accommodate event calendar including weekends, nights and holidays
  • Must be willing to travel to other locations as needed.
  • May be expected to lift approximately 25-35 pounds

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated knowledge in Architecture, or Engineering is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Working with department heads and P&L leaders, develop 5-year capital plan for each MSG venue.
  • Assist in the management of the project team which may be inclusive of third-party consultants, designers, architects, project managers, expediters, internal trades and general contractors for each project.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in the areas of electrical & mechanical systems, low voltage systems, IT infrastructure, DAS systems, AV systems and Broadcast infrastructure.
  • Oversee the transition of each approved construction and/or capital project initiative from planning, budgeting, bidding and through all project execution phases.
  • Working with Procurement, oversee bid solicitation process for all contractors, vendors, consultants, and suppliers.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of design solutions, product procurement and delivery logistics.
  • Responsible for the planning stages, project safety aspects (OSHA) and equipment operational challenges.
  • Achieve company objectives in areas of cost, scheduling and quality
  • Ensure that the applicable projects receive Certificate of Occupancy and obtain entitlements and permits as necessary from City Agencies.
  • In collaboration with the Senior Director of Capital Projects and Senior Director, Back of House Operations, conduct periodic site visits to evaluate contractor performance and quality
  • Manage compliance with legal, regulatory, and environmental requirements
  • Prepare and present weekly project updates
  • Perform in-event management oversight as Building Operations Manager on Duty (MOD) once per week during the annual Christmas Spectacular season and provide ongoing in-event management support throughout the year based on business needs.
  • Responsible for managing a financial budget of $500k - $5M.
  • Will have direct management over various union trades for construction and various projects throughout the year, and will supervisor vetted design and construction firms and vendors.
