About The Position

Netflix seeks an experienced business and legal affairs executive, with extensive live sports expertise, to handle a wide array of responsibilities related to the production of Netflix’s live sports and events (e.g. MLB, Canelo vs. Crawford, Paul vs. Tyson, NFL Christmas Day Games, just to name a few). The successful candidate will be an integral part of the Sports Business & Legal Affairs team and will primarily oversee business and legal affairs facets of in-house and third-party productions.

Requirements

  • At least eight (8) years of business and legal affairs experience in the acquisition, development, licensing and deep expertise in the production of live sports and events, with direct experience drafting and negotiating deal terms and all forms of agreements, including production services agreements, talent, above-the-line and below-the-line agreements, license agreements and all types of production forms.
  • Extremely comfortable dealing directly with productions, producers and talent representatives, as well as communicating across myriad departments within the company.
  • Ready, willing, and able to completely own all business and legal affairs facets of live sports and events production
  • Experience providing in-house support, or as outside production counsel, for a network, streaming service, sports league/organization, or a production company that specializes in live sports and events is preferred.
  • Knowledge of substantive areas of the law and customary business practices relevant to live sports and events production including guilds and unions and music rights and clearances.
  • J.D. (or international equivalent) and membership in good standing in at least one state bar is required.
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal and communication skills - Flexible and collaborative across a variety of projects and cross-functional teams.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity - Strong analytical capabilities and judgment.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities - Ability to work proactively, independently, and reliably under tight timeframes juggling multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strategic, commercial, and practical thinker - Ability to work effectively and collaboratively, think practically and be solution-oriented.
  • Willingness to tackle matters outside of expertise.
