Agile Sourcing (AS) is part of a global procurement team which collaborates with Global Product Supply (GPS) category leaders and business partners on procurement execution in support of procurement category strategies as well as contributing advanced strategic industry insight. The Senior Manager is directly responsible for acting as a “single point of contact” for requirements gathering, sourcing, negotiation and contracting of high strategic value, complex, high risk and innovative transactions supporting the GPS organization. The Senior Manager, Agile Sourcing, Indirect Services role will build an understanding of BMS's global, end-to-end value chain as it relates to the categories in focus.

Responsibilities

  • Drive end-to-end implementation of Sourcing and Contracting Strategy and contribute to strategy development.
  • Project management and operational support for various contracting and strategic initiatives.
  • Communicate project status updates clearly and transparently across matrix stakeholders.
  • Provide End-to-End project management for complex sourcing events.
  • Review, redline, draft, and negotiate routine contracts with minimal supervision for assigned categories, and for complex contracts under the guidance of transactional attorneys.
  • Provide guidance and explanation of risks on contract matters to internal stakeholders including procurement and business units.
  • Partner with attorneys providing advice on transactions, patient data privacy law, and other regulatory matters.
  • Develop and maintain fallback guidance, playbooks, and other internal documents with advice from transactional attorneys.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for external parties, engage internal stakeholders in negotiation decisions, and manage contracts through the negotiation process.
  • Lead the negotiation and execution of contracts in close partnership with legal and other key business functions.
  • Gather contract requirements and understanding the scientific business need.
  • Demonstrate strong command of contract legal terms and clauses.
  • Develop creative solutions in the face of challenges to enable business initiatives and manage risk.
  • Maintain full compliance with BMS contracting policies and procedures.
  • Lead the gathering and formalization of key business requirements.
  • Prepare and solicit competitive bids, quotations, and proposals.
  • Develop scoring criteria with input from key partners and stakeholders.
  • Evaluate competitive offerings and assess supplier product & pricing information.
  • Partner with category leads, site procurement and business unit representatives to award business.
  • Ensure excellence in delivery of procurement initiatives that maximize corporate, business, and functional priorities and objectives.
  • Support design/development of procurement compliance programs that align to organizational objectives and business strategies.
  • Conduct pricing or fair market value analysis and support risk management as required.
  • Manage stakeholders within the applicable business units (i.e. GPS).
  • Consult with Global Procurement (GP) & Agile Sourcing Leadership, Strategic Corporate Transactions (Legal) and senior leadership of suppliers when necessary.

Requirements

  • Minimum education of a B.S./B.A. is required; J.D./M.S./M.B.A is preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) years prior work experience in multi-disciplined procurement, contract management at a large company or contracts service provider is required.
  • Strong understanding of key contract provisions and ability to review and respond to redlines.
  • Experience in applying organizational standards when drafting contracts and negotiating terms.
  • Ability to systematically analyze complex problems, draw relevant conclusions and implement appropriate solutions.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with a strong client focus.
  • Comprehensive understanding of contracts and ability to convey complex information in a way that others can readily follow.
  • Excellent negotiating and persuasive skills, both in one-on-one and group situations.
  • Ability to sustain high levels of performance in a constantly changing environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the pharmaceutical or consulting industry is preferred.
  • Professional Certifications (e.g. CPM, CPIM) or PMP.
