About The Position

Leads and optimizes the company’s AP operations, managing a team and ensuring compliance with policies, accounting standards, and regulations. This role provides strategic oversight of AP functions, enhances systems and processes, and ensures accurate, timely recording and payment of liabilities. A key focus is driving successful implementation of critical AP projects to improve efficiency, streamline workflows, and reduce manual effort.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 10+ years of experience in Accounts Payable or Finance, with at least 5 years in a managerial role.
  • Experience with AP automation tools, particularly Ariba, and familiarity with end-to-end AP automation processes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Accounts Payable specialists
  • Set performance goals, provide regular feedback, and support professional development.
  • Ensure the AP team is aligned with organizational objectives
  • Support AP project implementations to automate and streamline AP processes, reduce manual data entry and increase invoice accuracy
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (IT, Procurement, Finance) and third party consultants to ensure smooth integration of key AP systems.
  • Manage change management efforts including user training and process changes, to ensure successful adoption by the AP team and broader organization.
  • Identify and execute continuous improvement opportunities to drive efficiency, accuracy, and cost savings within the AP function
  • Oversee vendor communications, resolve disputes, and ensure the timely payment of invoices.
  • Build and maintain strong, professional relationships with vendors to negotiate favorable terms and resolve any discrepancies promptly.
  • Ensure accurate and timely recording of all AP transactions, including proper coding to the general ledger.
  • Oversee month-end and year-end close processes related to AP, ensuring reconciliation of accounts and preparation of necessary reports.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and relevant legal requirements, including tax regulations.
  • Support internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and responses to audit inquiries.
  • Ensure robust internal controls are in place to safeguard company assets and prevent fraud.
  • Collaborate with other departments such as Procurement, Finance, and Treasury to ensure smooth workflows and resolve issues promptly.
