Job Summary Primarily responsible for identification, documentation, and communication of new or complex transactions and new standards associated with specific key accounting topics within Comcast, as well as developing an enterprise-wide understanding of risks, systems, controls, judgment areas, and policies associated with the specific key accounting topic.

Requirements

  • CPA License
  • 7+ years in accounting, with multiple years of experience with technical accounting research and control design, implementation, or testing
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, SOX, and SEC guidance, and COSO framework
  • Excellent oral and written skills communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

  • Consult with business units and external auditors on technical accounting matters and the application and development of accounting policies
  • Review contracts and identify the accounting issues
  • Lead team discussions of accounting issues in a manner that demonstrates a deep understanding of the relevant GAAP
  • Prepare, review documentation for, and communicate the accounting for the issues identified (both technical and operational accounting considerations) to management and other stakeholders
  • Monitor and proactively identify/research proposed new accounting standards and guidance (i.e. FASB, EITF, SEC and PCAOB guidance)
  • Present and train our management and staff on new standards
  • Perform risk assessments through process walkthroughs, inquiry, and data analysis
  • Lead development and maintenance of a comprehensive internal control testing plan
  • Evaluate the design and effectiveness of internal controls and offer recommendations to mitigate risk and add value
  • Manage the activities of assigned internal control testing team members and ensure the procedures are appropriate, performed appropriately, documented clearly, and that the documentation is well supported and well organized
  • Present findings to management and executive leadership in a manner that demonstrates a deep understanding of risks, processes, and controls for the specific accounting area
  • Monitor changes in the business environment and emerging risks
  • Identify opportunities for improvement in current processes
  • Coach and mentor junior members of the team
  • Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
  • Regular, consistent and punctual attendance.
  • Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary.
