ROLE PURPOSE: E&I Technicians perform a wide variety of activities which support the facility and maintain production. Shifts are either eight hours, 5 days a week, with occasional overtime work, or 12 hour rotating shifts with occasional overtime work. An Instrumentation Technician may be required to work in one or more plant areas, doing one or multiple assignments during any given work shift.

Requirements

  • Repair, install and replace electrical equipment and devices, and instruments including, electric motors, fuses, relays, electric and network cables, pressure transmitters, temperature transmitters, level transmitters and switches, flow transmitters, process sensors.
  • Troubleshooting through PLC and DCS programs and replacements of PLC and DCS components.
  • Work independently or in small groups to install, repair, replace equipment, including control valves, motors, instruments and other process equipment.
  • Work independently or in pairs to repair equipment at workstation.
  • Use a variety of handheld tools which must be grasped manually, applying as much as 100 pounds of torque to disassemble mechanical units. Tools may be manual, electrical or pneumatic in nature, requiring adequate grip for safe operation.
  • Walk/Stand upon a variety of surfaces to transport materials, equipment and tools between work areas. Required to stand approximately 5-6 hours per day. Standing/walking takes place upon concrete, asphalt, metal grated and diamond steel plated walkways and stairways.
  • Required to climb as high as 5 flights of stairs 3-4 times a day to reach work area.
  • Must be able to kneel, crouch, or crawl to reach restricted access work areas a minimum of 1-2 times daily.
  • Work in varying environmental conditions. Required to work primarily outdoors in varying weather conditions. Outside temperatures may range from -32oF to an excess of 100oF. Indoor temperatures can be 110oF or higher.
  • Associate degree and or Military Training AND Minimum 1-2 years of hands-on experience in the field on Electronics, Instrumentation, Controls, electrical systems, or high school degree/GED and 4 years of hands-on experience on Electronics, Instrumentation, Controls, electrical systems.
  • Apprenticeship program with a minimum of two (2) years of on-the-job training is acceptable.
  • Must be able to read and write.
  • Experience with DCS and PLC systems - Basic PLC and drives knowledge, electrical motors, and controls.
  • Experience reading blueprints and working with 280 VAC 3 PH equipment.
  • Ability to use computerized maintenance software.
  • Must be able to understand and comply with GMP regulations.
  • Good understanding of Electrical, Instrumentation and Hand Tools.
  • Knowledge of how to work with Hart Communicator, a multi meter, basic computer skills.
  • Knowledge on how to calibrate instruments (flow, pressure, level).
  • Knowledge on how to read and troubleshoot electrical diagram.
